I go by this gas station in my home town (Lincoln or N.Woodstock...take your pick) and I see this sweet Busa outside a gas station ...I turn around and go back...the guy is off his bike talking on his cell....I make eye contact and give him the cool guy nod....go get my beverage of choice and go back to my bike....he walks over (after his phone convo) and says"nice bike" I reply with the same .....next thing you know we are like buddys who haven't seen each other in years...Maybe this is just a good story about meeting a sportbike junky like myself.....or a better aproach to it .....any way it is one of us....a nesr guy. It was nice to meet you today timmy duck if you read this. Good luck to you and your newjob. Also better luck to you miss twist.....and I hope you meet more "NICE RIDERS" like myself and the many riders I have met. The kindness of the many outweighs the mean shit of the few. NESR is many and strong. Rock
that's nice...
I've noticed one thing in 2 seasons of riding, it's always the same gang in Springfield not waving, saluting, etc. the other riders. There is one or two fairly big gangs riding sportbikes around here. Last season, a guy on a sportbike downtown Springfield did a donut (an aggressive U-turn) right in front of my husband and I while we were cruising quietly on Main St. if a cop had seen him, he was in big troubles. We looked at each other and said "what an asshole!", Man God almost turned around to go after him but refrained from doing so. There is people who just won't have any respect. But there is also others who will be very cool, and that's the ones I want to run into when I'm out riding.![]()

Yeah, there will always be hooligans on sportbikes (just like on cruisers) and they do seem to run in "packs". I can think of several in this state... The revere beach pack, the newbury st pack (although why ANYONE would want to ride a bike down newbury is beyond me), the brockton gang, the sprinfield gang, the new bedford/fall river crew, etc., etc. I am sure anyone from those areas can attest that there's a few groups of young hooligans (can't be older'n 18 - 21) on sportbikes doing stupid things, but they too will learn, or they will do something stupid and become part of the Darwin award pool...
The trick is to find the people who are serious about RIDING and not about showing off (with the one exception being the pro stuntaz, who are actually quite serious about riding) but it seems that sport bikes attract a heck of a lot of young jerkoffs (hey I was one of em at one point, before my accident wised me up) but don't despair... just because there are are probably 5 hooligans for every serious rider doesn't mean you shouldn't be nice to everyone, because one out of 5 times you will run into someone cool![]()
But when we ride very fast motorcycles, we ride with immaculate sanity. We might abuse a substance here and there, but only when it's right. The final measure of any rider's skill is the inverse ratio of his preferred Traveling Speed to the number of bad scars on his body. It is that simple: If you ride fast and crash, you are a bad rider. If you go slow and crash, you are a bad rider. And if you are a bad rider, you should not ride motorcycles.

We were both on our bikes, right on MAIN st. downtown Springfield, with lots of traffic (cars bumper to bumper) going slowly light to light. This guy came passing a whole line of traffic right on the middle lane separating the traffic coming one way and the other, he came right in front of our motorcycles (like 6 feet away), doing an aggressive U-turn (that's what a donut is, right?), cutting the oncoming lane of cars and going to the other way. YES, that was an asshole. I didn't say "people who do donuts" are assholes. I meant to say that HIM doing it in these conditions was an asshole.
Like speeding and stunting, if you want to do donuts and things like that, fine but there is a place and time for this. But not endangering other fellow riders (and cars) on a busy street full of traffic!

Very well said. I can't tell you how many times I have been riding in or around New Bedford to find myself surrounded by these guys all trying to edge me on to race on a city street. It ain't gonna happen...I'm out to ride not to crash! Besides, have you seen how the cagers drive in the city!Originally posted by hohum

As you slow down with your front brake you let your shocks compress. Once they are compresed give the brake a quick tug as you give it gas and let out the clutch. The rear tire will break away and start spinning. Keep the front brake on but allow the tire to roll slowly. As you rear tire is spinning you can steer to the left or right and start your donuts.Originally posted by MissTwisties

I am an ex Lowell hooligan, now I am a Bedford NH hooligan. lol Yea, I have ridden with the best of them. I for one am a hooligan and proud of it. Just look at my pretty 954! Unfortunately I can not longer be a hooligan since said hooligan is on probation for doing hooligan activities.Originally posted by Mystery Squid
I attract all sorts of hooligans because of my "SQWID" plate...
When surrounded by said hooligans, I drift back and just watch all the "fun"...
hey Ftrain, ever ride with Lowell hooligans???![]()

Been owned a few times. Best was last summer when I was riding a dirt bike around Lowell. I thought UMass security were rent a cops and not State Police. They were not fond of me after a 15 minute police chase and them tackling me off the bike. Hooligan I say!!!
Now were is MissTwisties so I can do some donuts around her!![]()

Heh, don't get me wrong, hooligan tactics still make ME giggle... at least until i have to mop up your bloody bits off the road![]()
Nothin worse than a tankbag full of SKIN!![]()
And oh yeah, don't taunt the cops, i have learned this lesson so many times that the last time i stood before a magistrate to try to get a ticket cleared he stood up and turned purple in the face screaming at me to look at my record![]()

ftrain,
Please define what a Bedford Hooligan is.
Is that like the top cow tipper in the village, or perhaps the one who has modified the John Deere by putting flames over the beautiful green paint job.
I am just busting chops, but am still laughing at the "Bedford Hooligan"
