So I have had this 848 Corse with factory quickshifter for 2 years. I'm in love with quickshifters! I'm trading up to an 1198 Corse, but the 1198 does not have a factory quickshifter. So I'm in the market for an aftermarket quickshifter.
Right now the 2 leading candidates are the Annitori RL and the HM quickshifter.
What do you all say?
Oh let me state I plan on keeping regular shift pattern, no GP shift for now.
Different opinion but with the bigger bike potentially needing less shifting... maybe you won't miss the shifter much?
I thought about getting one for the Honda CBR1000 but decided that the number of upshifts just didn't justify it.
How did you like the QS on the 848? I rode mine 30 miles before this past winter and didnt like it at all. 1st to 2nd would almost always go into nuetral and make me bounce offf rev limiter accidentally. It was jerky and unpredictable. The QS on my 675r is hands down way more precise.
I have nothing to offer in the aftermarket brands, but will say, once you have a slick working quick shifter, you almost can't (don't want to) live without it. The factory QS on my RSV4 works pretty slick, never a missed shift and the harder you're on the throttle, the smoother it shifts.
I hope YAMAHA puts one on the new 2015 YAMAHA R1, so when I get back to being a YAMAHA owner, I can keep my quick shifter AND have a reliable bike![]()
Yamaha
Track bike or street bike?
Street mostly...maybe 5 trackdays a year...
You didn't like your 848 as a street bike? I have a street 1098 and looking back, should have waited for an 848EVO. No need for a quickshifter on my 1098, I'm not shifting that much. If I was I would tweak my gear ratio first - up 2 in the back.

LOVE my 848 Corse!! The 1198S Corse is the same but better forks, aluminum fuel tank (no expanding issues) lightweight forged wheels and 40 more hp.
Ya, ya I know..youre gonna say cant use all the power. I probably dont have the skill to use the extra 40...but I definetly have the balls to use it![]()
Those things are... not affordable.

Most quickshifters only really work super smooth at WOT and up in the RPMs. This is one reason I don't care for them. The other is that they are sometimes inconsistent and are a major fail point. If it stops working right and you are very used to it, it's going to cost you mental energy to overcome that.
For me in racing the simplest solution that works is always best.
.....the mod makes a very big difference on a Ducati. I would say at least 1/2 second per lap and a lot more planted chassis when shifting with any kind of lean angle. I used a Bazzaz unit on my 848 for the past couple seasons and had very good luck with it.

There's truth and charm and beauty
And strangeness everywhere
The closer we examine
The more there's nothing there
Get a quick shifter and you will see how much easier that is to do. Not that I ride anywhere close to Eric but on my R6 without the quick shifter it would get a bit dicey trying to up shift coming out of the bowl. With the quick shifter as long as its working properly it was easy and smooth. Just hold the throttle open and shift it.

I can imagine the effect being more pronounced on a Duc as they hit so hard when you open the throttle. I just think they are clunky for anything but racepace. The OP is a street rider that does 5 trackdays a year. If it were me, I'd be on the fence about it. Perhaps I had bad luck with my battle shifter, or they have improved a lot since I owned that?
So.. Anyone put one on a gen 1 sv?
