I'd hate to take ADV's word on that and find out dealers no longer discount seeing all the good press that bike is getting. That seems like an awfully low OTD price, that includes all fees and taxes? That's OTD price to me.
Edit: Maybe that's not including taxes seeing you don't know what state you'll be buying from?
Also, I've got a buddy in sales at a KTM dealer if you want to try and get some real numbers. Maybe you already know someone, if not, let me know.

Of course that's not with tax. I agree that saying "out the door" is confusing, sorry. I mean the final price before any fixed non-dealer established charges.
To me, tax isn't the price of the bike. That is a result of the price of the bike. It's like saying insurance and title and registration are part of the price of the bike.

Besides, I'm still playing with thoughts in my head at this point. $14k, $15k, $16k, whatever. It's all the same to me in all reality. Once I'm in a position where I've made up my mind, I'll move forward on it and find the best price/situation for me. Still would need to sell a few bikes first no matter what. I'm outta space.

800gs.
It's THE one. For me.
My buddy just snagged a high mileage one, and I'd only ridden one really briefly to help some fucktard that got his stuck...
Until today.
I took his new scoot on a good 30 mile test. Highway, twisty bits, dirt roads and WATER.
ITS THE ONE.
I need one with big square aluminum luggage, a touring screen, some grip warmers, and hand guards. And may I never buy another street bike again. That is all.

I know what you mean. That's the way I feel about my Tiger 800 XC. Because I have the motorcycle addiction, I think occasionally about what sort of bike I should buy next (especially because I've already put 50,000 miles on the XC in three years, so in another couple seasons it's going to be pretty damn high-mileage). From a rational perspective, I start to think I should get something like a Tiger Explorer for long-haul rides... but then my emotional side comes back and reminds me that I frigging love that XC and can't imagine wanting to ride any other bike more. It's the ideal blend of nimble handling, long-distance comfort, and everyday practicality for my needs. Triumph really hit the ball out of the park with this bike.

That same sentiment was rolling through my head while out on my bike last night. I love this thing.

Anyone know of a dealer with a demo R and non-R available to ride?

Didn't find any demo's, but I decided I'm sick monday and the only cure for my ailment is a ride to go see both the Standard and R version side by side.
Closest place for me that has both on the floor is down in Plainville CT.
Anyone ever dealt with Motorsports Nation?

I think Christian likes Motorsport Nation. I have friends who have bought from there and love the place. When I was there they had both versions on the floor.
Turns out they only have the S model on the floor, no R model. Was able to fidget with one that was in a closed off corner with the key in it, likely sold already. Pretty simple GUI on it.
Bike was tall, but was also likely setup on the highest setting. Bars are wide, might need a little Rox Risers to get it a bit closer.
All over the bike were little cool details that make life easier. On the back of the swingarm on the chain side, there is a few teeth to hold the chain on the swingarm while performing tire changes. Good idea!
Curious to see how one rides.

I sat on one of those 1190 R's today. Belongs to someone you know. Someone you've rode with.
I'm starting to come 'round on the whole team orange thing myself. I think you should buy one of these things.

Sweet. I'll ride it at deals next year.
Will be a while for me before I can move on a new bike. Every step forward I make on anything mechanical lately turns into 3 steps backwards. Shit is getting old real quick.

Turns out the new DL1000 is actually lighter than this Austrian uber thing.
R1200GS - 520 lbs dry - $19520 list - 116 hp x 84 lbft - 137mph tops
1190 Adv (non-R) - 490 lbs dry - $17834 list - 128 hp x 81 lbft - 151mph tops ()
DL1000 ABS - 474 lbs dry - $12699 - 91 hp x 67 lbft - 126 mph tops
Source.
Most of the rest of the stats are remarkably similar.
I woke up this morning on this page. Have decided the orange race SV is going this spring. DRZ too, including the SM kit. 78 CB400 as well. Even flirting with the idea of letting the KTM 200 go.
Friends. Commiserate with me.

I have two SVs now. Was on the Doug plan for a while there. I'm now 7 rounds race free and figure I can part with the race bike now that I finally figured out what was up with the 'new' one.
