Yesterday at about 4:30 / 5 o'clock ish I was coming through NH towards Winchendon to check Murdock farms to see if they were open for the season. I decided to take the back road that comes out behind it. There is one very sharp left curve in the road about half way through it. This year the frost heaves were horrible and there was ....sand...I had to take the corner wide because of the oncoming traffic that tends to pull to wide on their turns and this forced me into a situation I couldn't pull out off. The bike lost control and upon impact with the side of the road I was thrown down the road about 15 ft or more before coming to a scraping stop. I was wearing my Scorpion Exo helmet, Icon Pursuit gloves, Icon pursuit jacket, jeans, boots. the gloves are destroyed, the jacket held up for the most part but when I landed my arms were above my head, thus pulling the jacket up to expose my core. I didn't walk away from this one >.<...Sprained ankle, road-burn knee and side torso just above hip. My baby...doesn't look so hot. The frame is twisted in the back end, whole left side is cracked, shifter destroyed and because of the ass end being knocked over the exhaust pipe is probably warped at the head.
I got lucky, but my bike didn't. Anyone who is driving this early in the season, please be careful of the roads and try to avoid any roads that aren't used as regularly. I would love to post pics, but I can't find the plug to my camera. Next step find someone who has a truck to get my back out of the garage that has it held so they stop charging me and see about talking to the insurance company and maybe putting in for a claim. I wouldn't feel safe riding a bike that has had frame damage. I won't know the extent till I can take her apart.![]()
Sorry to hear that. Good think you are OK for the most part.

Ouch dude! Sorry to hear it! At least you will heal from this one with no permanent damage. Hopfully insurance heals the bike.

#1: glad you're OK
#2: What the hell are you doing riding at that hour?
#3: Peter Kates, GMD Computrack Boston. Or, Mike Martire in NY. Both are on this list and have plenty of experience fixing crashed bikes.

WTF dude? I thought everyone here agreed that we're not going to have any more of these this season. I have a truck you can use to do whatever u need. I live in peabody, ma.
Bad news, at least you had gear on.
Sorry to hear that. Good thing you were wearing protection.
on #2 it was in the afternoon and a gorgeous day, why wouldn't I ride
Thanks guys, I do need to find someone with a truck as none of my friends have one or know anyone that has one. The garage it's being held at is in Winchendon MA and for the time being I need to get it back to leominster so they stop charging me to hold it. Since I can't do much I'd like to start taking her sides off so I can get a better look at the engine that's scraped to hell and see how much more of the frame is warped and if the seals are broken.
On the plus side, I'm limping around a little more today and can put minor pressure on my toe on the left side, but the back of the ankle is still a no go...guess I shouldn't push it![]()
to bad about the bike
good to hear your ok though

Sorry I must have missed that, kinda in a daze since then, got a lot on my mind. Got her back home today, long story and day was kinda crazy to get her back but she's home. From talking to my neighbor who has been in a wreck before, he says my bike is probably a total. This makes me very sad and I hope that the insurance will cover it since it's only a year old bike.
Wish I could post pics so that I can make people cringe and show that even while wearing gear you can get hurt this bad. I think I may need to look into a longer torso jacket since the amount of road rash I have on my side is due to the fact that my left arm was above my head when I hit and slid, thus exposing my soft squishy parts. But the jacket did protect my arms and this is why I LOVE leather. I wouldn't be able to even type right now if not for this jacket.
My motto, sweat wipes off, road rash doesn't![]()
Not trying to rub salt in the wounds but any reason why the gear did not zip together?
Not that expensive to have zippers installed.
hmmm... makes me think twice about wearing my icon pursuit jacket... I always wondered if it'd 'come up' on me in a fall. Dayum.
Get well, I hope you feel better soon. Just goes to show you why protective gear is so important to wear.
Not long ago, I went through insurance for a bike that was totaled ( frame damage ) and everything worked out o.k., except I was hit with a surcharge on both my vehicles; not just the motorcycle.
Glad you're ok man, Hope all works out with insurance.
Shitty, bro.Good luck, let us know how it goes.

While I'm waiting to hear back from the insurance company to get the bike looked at, does anyone have any experience with this process? I've heard that if the frame is bent at all on a bike, they usually consider it a total. I have full coverage on my bike and she's only a year old. Does it all depend on the adjuster who looks at it or is it a rule written somewhere if the frame is bent, trash it?
BTW, friend gave me his left over meds from when he had is wisdom teeth out...bottle of perks and 800mg of Ibuprofen. Makes changing my dressings much easier at night![]()
