As some of you may have seen from the "My naked TLS" thread, I'm in the process of stripping down and tweaking my 97 TLS. Yesterday I pulled the rotary damper unit and the spring-on-a-stick (SOAS) out of the bike to be replaced with newer units that Christian supplied me with.
The question I have is how should I adjust the components to suit my weight of ~200lbs? I know its impossible to get it dialed in without all the components installed, but its almost impossible to adjust the preload of the spring when it's installed since the locking rings are pretty banged up...I have to adjust it in a vice right now.
How much preload should I put on the SOAS? Are there any adjustments I should make on the damper before I reinstall it? Thanks in advance.

This sounds like a job for Peter Kates!
He installed the Ohlins on my old TLs.
Bet he'd know what to tell you.

Get on TLPlanet and TLzone, there's plenty of threads on there just for your mod. Plus you'll oogle over all the group buys going on TLplanet right now. Vanzuki's making a ton of parts this year!
