Hey stoneman, do you think you could do fork seals on my dirtbike? The left one is totally shot. I have the seals and oil, but I'm not really confident enough to do it myself, as I've nbever had motorcycle forks apart before. What do you think? (also, just ballpark, how much do you think it would cost?) Thanks :D
oh, and I have the service manual too.
nevermind, I managed to do it myself :D
terribly hard wasn't it?
well, I had to make a couple of tools, and I still need to find a better way to re-tighten the stupid inner piston rod, but overall, not very tough. There were a couple points where it would have been nice to have some experience though, for example, next time, when I try to pull the outside leg off the fork tube and it doesn't seem to come off, I'll know that the answer is just "pull really freaking hard" and not wory about breaking it :D
The damping rod can usually be held in place for tightening with a nut attached to a threaded rod. Pin the nut in place or crank down a jam nut on top of it to hold it on the threaded rod. Pin or jam another nut at the other end of the rod for a wrench to grip. The damper rod should look like the inside of a 12 point socket and the lower nut will slip right in assuming you sized it correctly.
Would have been easy to determine the right size nut with the damper rod out...
I have made two of these tools for two different sized damper rods. Perhaps one will work for you. You are welcome to try them.
1 inch washer. Cut about 1/4 of the metal away so it will slide between the locknut and screw. This will keep everything in place.
I'm not getting this... Sounds interesting but I'm completely lost.Quote:

i can rejet an sv650 in about 45 mins. and you dont have to pull them completely out of the bike. i need a carb synch though. mine running rough. lots of vibration, and doesnt idle well. im willing to travel anywhere in southern maine. i work for beer money(donations) or trade for a carb sync. any help would be cool.
If you can get down here, I'll resync your carbs with ya. I need to sync my ZX6R anyways. I have mercury gauges...Quote:
