The way to enforce it would be at the DMV. A person w/o enough experience or whatever wouldn't be able to register a liter bike in their name.
obviously that wouldn't stop every newbie from riding a liter bike, but at least it'd stop em from legally owning one.

you're right, I didn't even think of thatI'm assuming you do that w/ a car, too?
That's pretty dumb. I wonder how the public would react if you could be a registered firearm owner w/o having a license.

This is a tough one. Personally I started out on a 500 then went to a 750 and now ride a 1000. Today's 600 are almost just as fast a the liter bikes so really what the difference. If you check out times they are so close. For me the R1 just "fit" me better. I checked out some others and didn't like the rider positioning when I was on them.

This isn't who it would be, if it wasn't who it is.
In Mass?
I had multiple bikes registered for years and years and years....never even had a permit. RMV had no care, as long as my check did not bounce. But its the insurance company that confused me....why the hell did they insure me if I was not a legal rider??
Now wait a min, maybe that is the key. Insurance.
Insurance can only be written on a large bike after so long of being licenced or proof of education. Then, you would be hard pressed to let a younger rider take your bike if it voids your insurance...heh, heh, now that's an idea.
Childish dink for debating your statement?? Yi yi yi. Try growing up and actually backing up and debating with me your opinions on new riders being able to buy liter bikes, that is what these forums are for.....: I.E. Learning different things and debating issues we all have within the motorcycling world!
I think your statements are borderline communist for insisiting on putting restrictions on new riders who want to buy liter bikes.....Now, what says you? (see, this is how grown-ups debate).
What's the point, this is useless...

there ya go, Jane....
now the question is.... do it by age or experience? We all know mileage beats years, but how do you prove experience? There'd have to be some sort of application or testing process![]()

I had to have my permit and insurance before the dealer would let me walk out with the bike... course a person selling it prob wouldn't have given a crap...
While we are at it....should you need some kind of license thingy to be a passenger? Shouldn't they get the education about safety, gear and risks that we get? Do they realize just how much of the bike they control?
Problem now is the 2007 GSX-R 1000 has the 3 power mode settings. Setting C is roughly equal to the power output of a 600. Setting B is roughly equal to the output of a 750, and A is full power.
I heard so many newbies talk about how they were going to go by the 07 because they could start off in C, and as they get better they go to B, and then A. It's an awesome technology but it's adding fuel to the reasons why newbies are buying 1000cc's.

Direct Quote:
"Though some have likened mode "B" to the equivalent of a 750cc engine and mode "C" to turning the GSXR-1000 into a 600cc, "C" actually feels more powerful than a 600."

where exactly were you debating my opinion like an adult in your other post? I musta missed it, could you underline that for me? Maybe it was the part where you were saying I was probably a hall monitor or how i should be a comedian in N. Korea. Was that it? Was that where you were being an adult?

I havn't read this entire thread, but i read the most recent posts so maybe I'm repeating an idea, but here goes anyway.
When we talk about freedom, the implication is you do not effect other people. This is why we have laws. You cant kill or steal because it effects others in a negative way. If absolute freedom existed, you could put a knife in someones back and take their wallet and nothing would happen to you. I know this is an extreme example, but it makes my point. Along the same lines, captain newb on his 1K effects many others. When a crash happens, its not just his life that is effected. Others may get hurt, and every one of our insurance premiums goes up. $1000/ year for my bike because 10000 asshats before me went down for reasons of inexperience combined with too much bike. I agree that education is one very important tool for us here. I was a squidly mofo when I first started riding for no other reason than I didn't know any better. The fact remains however there are too many out there that are closed minded and think it wont happen to them. For their choices we all pay: our sport, our image, our families, and our insurance rates. We have laws to make the distinction between what is a freedom and what has consequences involving others, and this is one of those.
And I just noticed all the nice pictures added right before I posted this, so FUCK OFF YOU PIG FUCKERS!!!:
Supa Motarded! If you see me backin it in, keep watching...Im about to crash

I don't think it's fair not to have the option of getting the bike of your chosing. I just feel that the sales person should give suggestions on a little common sense when purchasing one, thought it's not their job to tell a buyer what they can/cannot purchase - isn't the customer always right ?Most of the time you know what you want before getting there anyways.
When I was taking my motorcyle license driving test - a guy had a brand new GSXR1100 and dropped it during the test and couldn't get it back upneedless to say he failed his test.
Basic point don't get what you can't handle - I guess that can fall into many aspects of life too![]()
