Just call the DMV they will run it and tell you if its clean or Not....I have done it in the past..

What exactly do you need?

VIN Verification for a registration issue? usually needs to be done by dmv or a police officer.

If you just need a VIN run to see if it is stolen, thats a different story.

I have access to the MA RMV- PM me the VIN with your email and I will get you all the info the state has on it.....

If it's been totaled there will be a sticker on the frame and the title will say reconstructed.
