    No0b bike maintenance how-to clinic

OK as it seems there are a few noobs around the area that want to do their own maintenance. I figured I would see if a few people would be interested in me doing a how-to. I'm not a mechanic by trade but I have been wrenching for the better part of a decade. I do all my own work on all my cars and bikes. And would love to help other get into doing it them selves also. I was thinking on doing it on a week night. And hoping that someone might have something they wanted done to their bike. IE brakes, carb sync, chain adjusted, oil changed. Or I could just pick a project to do on one of my bikes. I'm in Spencer and it's only a short ride from Worcester.

So if there are any interested in learning more about motorcycles post up. Also if any other mechanically inclined people want to help post up. Or if you are looking for a place to work on your bike or just need help my garage is always open.

I can do some stuff, but not other stuff... so depending on what you'd like to cover, keep me posted

Yeah it's a pretty simple job. The only thing that sucks is well sucking the fluid threw. I have a mighty vac but still takes enough time to give you a sore hand from pumping.

In between now and then don't forget to sand your disks to remove glazing and throw a tie wrap or two on the lever over night to keep the bubbles out.

Depends on the amount of interest, and who wants to do what. I'll let you know :helleyeah:

    never heard of doing this?

How do you know if you have bubbles in your brake line or not. sometimes when i brake really hard right before i stop i feel a weird feeling in the lever. not sure how to describe it any other way but it is similar to what your car brake pedal feels like when your anti-lock brakes come on but it happens only at the last 4 -5 mph in the stop... could this be the issue??

I also think my pads rub the tire too much when no brakes are applied, you can hear it as you slow down rubbing the rotor is the same place evert revolution.

I don't think i am ready for a brake job but i want to fix this issue and I'm hoping this will cure it as rotors are so expensive and mine still look great.

Is there any way to confirm you rotors are dead straight? the rubbing issue might be the rotor too? i dunno?

Scuba S, upgrade to SS lines when you're going to replace the brake fluid.

Sanding the rotor gets rid of the glazing and allows your pads to grip them better.

Pulling the brake lever to the grip and tie it there. Leave overnight (some say leaving the M/C closed and the air will be caught between the top of the fluid and below the diaphragm. I personal like to remove the lid pull my reservoir sock up and use the cover extended over the reservoir to keep crap out)

The thread you started about that got me thinking of this. And it sounds like your bike can be the first victi...er...candidate.

brake bleed check. Never did a valve job, but need to on the fizza. After I do my bike I could check yours out. 2 smoke top end if cake...just been some years since I did one. But basically pull all the old stuff off and replace with new stuff.
