    ZX9 help

I have been having trouble with my 2002 zx9. When driving the bike in second gear around 40mph if you try to speed up it starts bucking. I had all the carbs recleaned, replace all fuel/vacuum lines, Fuel filter, fuel pump, fresh gas and new spark plugs. I have been told that it sounds like an electrical problem so i checked all spark and it all seems fine. All the plugs seem to look the same. they are the same shade of brown. I am running out of options and the dealer says that i should change all coil boot and computer. That is around $700-$800. I am in desperate need before i bury the zx9.
    thanks for any input

    ZX9 help

If it only happpens in second gear it sounds like your second gear could be going. Usually the forks get bent and/or the engagement dogs get rounded.

    ZX9 help

i subscribe to the theory of:

"Hey Doc, it hurts when I go like *this, what should I Do?"

    "Don't go like *this"

... just don't go like that

    ZX9 help

It sounds like second gear is toast. Having owned several early FZR1000's, you get very familiar with what a bad tranny acts like.

Does it do it in third or fourth gear roll-ons?

It does it in every gear. No matter what. I took out aall of the jets today and check to make sure they were all intact and ok. I blew out all of carbs and tried setting the air fuel screw at 1.25 turns out, 1.5 turns out and 2 turns out and it still does the same.

    ZX9 help

Check the ram air intakes. After I crashed my ZX6 I spent 2 months trying to diagnose a similar problem, ripping the whole fuel system apart. Turned out a moth had made a nest in my left ram air tube while the bike had been sitting.

    I hate moths.

Well now don't do that, even a broken bike's worth something to somebody. Hell I'd buy it if the price was right, I love a challenge

Good luck with it, I'll post up if I can think of anything else, sounds like you've hit the usual suspects tho....

    Bite me, gimp

It's not "missing screws", they're "speed holes". Power to weight, you know?

I would go electrical next if it does it in each gear.

    Coils, plug wires, etc.
