Yep, all outer gear.
Bottom up today:
Short socks, boxers, jeans, fieldsheer pants over them. Undershirt, polo t-shirt, mid-level fleece, fieldsheer jacket. Held Ninja gloves, thin and cheap balaclava.
If I was riding any longer than 15 highway miles I would have thrown on long underwear, and my shitty joe rocket "winter gloves" (upgrading soon).

Re: Okay... this morning, I was pretty cold
Im still riding. Can't wait till it warms up a little today and tomorrow.
I have to get a car. Lost both my trucks in the spring (divorce)

Re: Okay... this morning, I was pretty cold
Still ridin. In the 10 years I've been riding, I've never 'winterized' a bike.
-
Re: Okay... this morning, I was pretty cold
I still have my bike out for riding when I am not working, but riding home would not be to fun since its a 40 minute drive home at midnight. Gets a little chilly with no sun!

Re: Okay... this morning, I was pretty cold
I'm still riding. It's a short commute and it helps wake me up.
It's getting a bit too cold though.

Re: Okay... this morning, I was pretty cold
Met up w/Mojobreakfast around noon and we bounced around Gloucester, Rockport, Essex. I was pretty cold riding up to Salem from Cambridge but it really warmed up in the afternoon.
Won't be quite as warm this weekend, but it's still pretty nice with some minimal warm gear.
Under Armor is great but expensive. I've been using Duoform for half the price and find it does just as well. I used to use both when I was skiing.

Re: Okay... this morning, I was pretty cold
Yeah, still riding but the mornings are pretty grim. Heated vest helps a lot, but I'm just wearing jeans and the legs are really cold. Ride home was nice though, 60 degrees.

Re: Okay... this morning, I was pretty cold
shrug... I ride in cold weather to save money.. cheaper for me to nix insurance than worry about putting in 14+ hour shifts in cold weather.

Re: Okay... this morning, I was pretty cold
i'm stuck in louisiana with no bike. i wish i was back there with you guys freezing my ass off on my gs. this is killin me. wont be back until august. till then, no riding for me :(

Re: Okay... this morning, I was pretty cold
Over winter I'll often ride when the temp is >= high 20s and there's no rain/snow. I've noticed that at ~30 degrees my helmet starts to fog up and at ~25 my helmet no longer fogs up and I can see my breathe inside it :coward:

Re: Okay... this morning, I was pretty cold
My bike is pretty old & it's carbeurated, so even on nice mornings like this it takes a while to get warmed up. I've gotten in the habit of bringing a cup of coffee out to the driveway to finish up while the bike warms and I get geared up.
This morning I took the last sip of coffee after I had my helmet on. Fail.

Re: Okay... this morning, I was pretty cold
I rode all week but today and yesterday cause of the rain :o

Re: Okay... this morning, I was pretty cold

Re: Okay... this morning, I was pretty cold
I've got an hour commute from the Lakes Region of NH to southern Maine, and it's getting pretty cold in both directions now. The biggest problem I have is with my hands. I've tried lots of different gloves, but even mountain climbing gloves from EMS are not warm enough for me. Maybe next year I will have to break down and get heated gloves.
-
Re: Okay... this morning, I was pretty cold
the heated gloves rock. my hands have bad circulation from a few frostbite incidents and with the heated gloves the only things that stop me are actual ice and snow on the road or below 0 cause the bike does not want to start that cold. and i don't want to cause damage trying.
oh yes i rode in today.. it was nice...

Re: Okay... this morning, I was pretty cold
Just install grip heaters -- I put the $30 Symtec ones on my V-Strom, and on the high setting they actually get really hot. I can wear regular uninsulated gloves even if it's in the 30s out and still have toasty warm hands. If I wear insulated gloves, I expect I'll be good down to temps at which the bike won't start.

Re: Okay... this morning, I was pretty cold
it was a beautiful ride in this morning! although i seem to be the only bike around these days... i am still riding every day that there is no precipitation.

Re: Okay... this morning, I was pretty cold
I rode in, not because I'm tough, but because my wife crashed the Jetta and I didn't want to drive her to work and back. I wore a light weight fleece under my TZ-1 with the vest and was pretty much ok, 37deg when I left. After 20 miles the area under the perfs got pretty cold, otherwise not as bad as I thought it was going to be.

Saw a guy on a BMW on the way in and there's 3 other bikes in my parking lot I can see besides mine.

Re: Okay... this morning, I was pretty cold
I rode today... and everyday it doesn't rain. There is something about 40 degrees and rainy I just can't handle. Summer rain is OK tho. ;)

Re: Okay... this morning, I was pretty cold
Still riding. Just had the heated grips intalled on the Tiger, and they make a world of difference for me. Nothing else heated. I commute 25 miles to southern NH. Will ride until the snow flies.

Re: Okay... this morning, I was pretty cold
+1 Grip heaters make a huge difference if you just remember to keep the fingers off the levers. I was toasty this AM until I hit some traffic and had to use the levers. Aluminum is a great heat-sink.

Re: Okay... this morning, I was pretty cold
Still commuting - not daily, but any day I need to be in early/work late.
+many on the grip heaters. Combine with handguards = warm!
Rest of the time is the commuter rail, purely for ease of parking :(

Re: Okay... this morning, I was pretty cold
11-12-2008:
Still have the 929 commuting daily 27 miles one way @5:30-6:00 in the AM. As I tell everyone till the sand flies off the trucks.

Re: Okay... this morning, I was pretty cold
I haven't driven the cage to work since April, and I intend to keep it that way for as long as I can stand it. High 20s on my way in this morning, but clear and sunny; it was actually really nice and I wanted to keep going.
