What do you pay for insurance?

I got a quote for 2002 RC51. 500/500 deductable on collision and comprehensive, and 50/100 on liability. All this for $275 a year! I opted out of personal injuries because my health insurance company says they will cover me if I get in an accident on a motorcycle.

Am I excited for something that's common/normal or is this a deal? I have a ticket in MA back in 2002 but that's not effecting my insurance rates anymore. Also got a ticket last year in NH but they didn't report to MA(woohoo!)

Why do you have coverage on yourself? Does your health insurance not cover you?

I'm not well versed on insurance but I'm learning.

    Keep them coming guys.

It does cover me but iirc the bike policy covers my passenger as well, not that I ever ride 2up. I could have paid half if I wanted to be cheap but what I do is bump my ins down to fire and theft during the winter and get a check back for about 100$+ because I pay it all up front. It such a small amount of money I figured I get a good amount of coverage.

of course not, I'll admit I do have light coverage, but like someone mentioned before, I also have extraordinary health insurance that made a significant difference when I was choosing medical coverage.

Actually, my quote is from Commerce. Can you tell me why you don't like them.

Also, when you post please give a rundown of your record and if you live in the woods or the city. Thanks

are you saying you don't pay Personal Injury Protection (PIP)? how do you manage that one? last time I had bike insurance a few years ago it was still part of basic insurance (as it is with a car) and you have to pay it. I know years ago before MA allowed competition you paid it but were automatically denied the benefits on a motorcycle because MA law sucks balls.

His bodily injury and property damage is so low he could be held responsible for any and all financial losses suffered by another party from an accident he caused. When it comes to property and medical care 50k is nothing and even though the other party may have auto and medical insurance those companies will look to his to foot the bill. If that bill exceeds 50k then he is then on the hook for the rest, that's why I have 1,000,000$ coverage, not that I'm rich because I'm poor but if you own a home you can kiss it goodbye.

Re: What do you pay for insurance?

Put it this way, the only thing I like about Commerce is my insurance agents. Aside from that there seems to be hidden charges all the time and ever since one of my cars was stolen back in 04 any kind of claim has been a hassle to get any sort of reasonable compromise between Commerce and me.

My driving record is not impeccable in anyway shape or form, but I haven't had a ticket since I was 18 (knock on freaking wood). I will admit though that up to 18 I was the definition of that asshole arrogant douche bag driver. Pretty much a masshole in training

I would probably have to hit a pedestrian to inflict that type of damage using my motorcycle. Otherwise, an accident of that price range involving a motorcycle is difficult and probably life threatening to me, but not impossible, but that is the risk I take and I dig it.

WTF, RI gives you a raping. My KLX 400 and Ducati 900ss costs me $160 a MONTH. I'm 28 with an immaculate driving record, house, and truck all through allstate insurance.

I cringe evertime I go down to RI and seeing squids on bikes on I95 with t-shirt, shorts, flip flops and no helmet...they got their eyes covered though with shades though!

    They're too cool for protection.

I know, just trying to explain to the OP why some people don't choose certain coverage limits. I did a quick example policy change, and upped all the medical/property coverages to their max (500 CSL), and the premium rose by $875.
