Why would you buy black colored tires?
wouldn't you just stick to regular ones?

I wonder if you burn out , does the color of the tire burn onto the ground ?, That'd be cool . .
I wonder what color the smoke is from a burnout?Originally posted by needabike

well they had one last june, and the 76 junes before that one, I think they are having one this june and next june.
All kidding aside, Laconia isn't the biggest bike week event in the country, but it is the oldest bike week event every june for 78 or so years. On a year with good weather upwards of 400,000 motorcycles come to laconia population of 10,000. Its a sight to be seen for sure.

Been at bike week for the last 6 or so years since I was 16. Used to be fun. Now there are cops everywhere stopping the "fun". I'm all for bein safe and all, but shit, let the ladies show'em and the squids burn'em. Two years ago blew wicked bad, only good part about it was the Kangamangas Highway. Goin up again this year, but I'm only stayin a couple days.
Sure would like to see a good pink burnout or two....

I don't think I would want to be around when someone's doing a burnout on one of those. A scanned the page quickly and saw that the tires are retreads. You're probably going to put some serious heat into those tires and then kabloom, there goes the retread. Probably a cool thing from far away, but I don't think I want Dunlop emblazoned on my forehead.

The only "intuitive" interface is the nipple.
if--as they say -- they test their bike retreads to the same spec as their aircraft tires, then blowouts / seperation shouldn't be a problem. aircraft tires gotta deal w/ a helluva lot of stress & heat... imagine doing a 200 mph wheelie, dropping the front end suddenly, then braking 'til the rotors are red-hot...Originally posted by MrX

ever heard of a little plane called the concorde, jeff?
yeah, yeah, aberration, debris, blah blah blah... my way's funnier.

NOPE!
(if I don't admit knowing about it, it can't affect my position... ya kak!)

True about the airplane tires, but look at the size of them and imagine the volume of air inside with which to conduct the waste heat and then there's the convection cooling of 300 mph air versus a small motorcycle tire with no convection cooling.
good point, X... but consider, too, the huge difference in mass & the considerably greater "scrub" that acft tires are subject to.
not to mention the speed of the heat cycle... on landing, acft tires can go from sub-freezing to wicked hot in a matter of seconds... if anything would promote seperation, I'd think that'd be pretty high on the list![]()
seriously, dunno if I'm sold on the idea... but it is intriguing...![]()

Are aircraft tires really subjected to that much?
Big aircraft aren't using wheel brakes for 100% of their braking anyway. It's just that instantaneous chirp and they're up to speed.
Ben
don't the massive jet engines getting thrown into reverse have a lot more to do with stopping the plane than those itsy bitsy tires?
See you on the road scag!
