Not enough clearance as the head has a protective wall around the sensor. A box end could have worked to take off the sensor but then I would need to torque it back on the new motor.

Nice work Jim! We have some sockets at work like that which are used for the same kind of thing!

New brake lines just arrived. Now I can finally remove the ABS completely.

Rotors are for the other Grom.

Goodbye ABS. The fact that this heavy clunk of metal is uneven considered on a 8hp minibike that goes 60 MPH is just ridiculous .

If you want to sell the bike in Europe, you gotta have it, so why not offer it as an option elsewhere if you've already done the heavy lifting to make it fit in the first place?

makes sense, that's why we have speedometers that indicate faster than you are actually going

No, that's US law, A speedo can be off by up to 10% but must NEVER read slower than actual. So, you know tire size variations, etc, account for worst case scenario tolerance stacking, set that as your speed padding and you meet the letter of the law with a safety margin.

    don't think so

    US law
    § 393.82 Speedometer.
Each bus, truck, and truck-tractor must be equipped with a speedometer indicating vehicle speed in miles per hour and/or kilometers per hour. The speedometer must be accurate to within plus or minus 8 km/hr (5 mph) at a speed of 80 km/hr (50 mph).

    [70 FR 48054, Aug. 15, 2005]

European Law kinda hard to find, but it's found in UN ECE Regulation 39
    5.3.

The speed indicated shall not be less than the true speed of the vehicle. At the test speeds specified in paragraph 5.2.5 above, there shall be the following relationship between the speed displayed (V1) and the true speed (V2).
    0 ≤ (V1 – V2) ≤ 0,1 V2 + 4 km/h

Interesting, so my memory was right on 10% error, but didn't realize US allowed +-, was always told it was + only.

Regional firmware has been a thing for a long time, speedos have just been a bit of code for quite awhile. Today's drivers never get to have the fun of estimating speed based on a wildly bouncing speedo as the cable fails any more.

had a '62 Dodge Dart GT Convertible 170ci slant 6, typewriter automatic, never knew how fast I was going. I estimate 50% fast, days of 55mph speed limit I had to do 80-85 to keep up If truth be told, I don't think the car could go 75 without being on a downgrade

My K-Pipe with original 125cc was 7.9 hp, 58mph on flat was my top seed (63 downhill) The 190cc that I have in it now is 19hp, scary, frame was not designed for that much power, 75mph and plenty more but not with me on board

Super impressed by your rate of progress here, Jim. Very curious how the resulting beast feels to you leaned over. My own brief Grom experience did not lead me to want to push it AT ALL but maybe the Ohlins suspension would have helped my balls crawl back out from my stomach cavity in that regard.

I'm putting a steering damper on my K-Pipe, twitchy enough with 17" wheels, I can only imagine 12" wheels

so my first Grom was bought (and still is) my pit bike for race weekends. the issue is that that bike is always in the south in storage since i race in the southeast coast.

i wanted something home to ride, and i've been wanting to try a CBR swap build.

i talked to AKFab about potentially making a liner damper mount for the lower triple. getting 90-100 MPH on 12" wheels does get sketchy.

I have to modify the mounting kit to fit my K-Pipe
