I just ordered this suit in the mail
<img src="http://www.motorace.com/images/catalog_images/45-754.jpg">
from http://www.motorace.com and it arrived today, but i'm not sure whether or not it fits well enough to keep. i spoke with the motorace guy on the phone for awhile and told him my height/weight/measurements and he said that i should probably wear a size 40 or 42, but the smallest size they had in stock was 44, which he said *might* be ok.
anyway, my question is, how snug are leathers supposed to fit? when i am wearing the suit and sitting in a riding position, the sleeves come to the ends of my wrists, and the pants come all the way down to the bottoms of my heels (without shoes on), though the knee armor is right at the knees. however, the thing is pretty baggy all over. if i wear a pair of jeans under the pants, they aren't so saggy, but i can shove an entire pillow down the front of my suit and it still zips up just fine.
so a coupla questions:
how snug are leathers supposed to be? should there be room to wiggle around?
if a suit is a little loose, would it help to wear a back protector and/or stick extra padding in various places?
i really really like this suit (cuz it matches my bike) and have searched for MONTHS for a set of trackday leathers that are even remotely close to my size and this is the closest i've gotten, so i would appreciate any advice on this one! thanks

No wiggle. A leather suit for track conditions should be so tight it's a pain in the ass to get on and off.
Get the hard armor and spandex underwear.
Also; 1.5mm, don't mess with anything less. Vanson has a good selection, try their open house should be around $5-700.
If you decide to keep it, try Doc's Lowriders for alterations, it may be less expensive in the long run.
BTW, good for you, everyone should be in leathers.

I would recommend wearing a back protector...
"extra padding in various places?" ... now that's a loaded question
It all depends on what places you want to add the padding![]()
Life is full of curves...just lean into them!!!
That's too big. For trackday use, almost any suit that fits you snug will do. You're not likely to crash 8 times in a year or anythingVansons are pricey but last through MANY crashes.
If your on a budget you can find a suit for 500 or less. They might last 2-3 crashes. maybe more...
Used Vansons are a good bet. Search online and at the track for occasional good deals.
damn, i wish i was biggerOriginally posted by Paul_E_D

elaineo,
i've got the same suit (ok, different color) in a size 44. i think it is just a little big on me but i wanted to be able to wear my back protector under it so i went up a size. i'm pretty sure you are quite a bit smaller than me so i would guess that suit is pretty big for you.
the only normal people are the ones you don't know very well.
oh yeah, so you do!! i should have asked you about it before I bought the damn thingOriginally posted by patricia929

it's a great suit though, huh? i just LOVE the way it looks and feels (except that it is way too big), and it totally breaks my heart that i'll never be able to fit into one![]()
Call Dave and let him know what's going on. He will do what it takes to make things right for you. He deals in IXS, too, which offers female-specific gear.
