Apparently a big gas price correction is coming our way...
The financial sites are claiming we are going to be seeing a national average of $2.10-2.15/gallon pretty soon to balance out the rise in price of crude oil over the last few months. I've got to imagine it's going to be higher than that here in New England since our prices always seem to be higher than some other areas of the country.
Good time to be riding a bike instead of a car/truck.
I plan on commuting with the rex regularly. Unfortunately my old Accord still got better milage than the bike. If I get the 750 back together with the new head, I'll ride that dinosaur to work every day. 48mpg? Yes ma'am![]()

I'm going to ride to work this thursday... so I can drop the beast off at the dealer for 105k service on friday, it's a valve check interval, I leave it the night before, so the valves are cold
I really don't get much better milage with my SV (38-42mpg) than I do in my bimmer (30-35mpg)

Yah it seems to work out better in the city. My commute sucks bad, my car drops to like 24-25mpg. it gets over 30mpg out in the country or on trips. The bike never drops much below 35-40mpg at least when it is warm.Originally posted by RandyO

My SV was always better.. at least 50mpg. But it sucked to ride with the stock jetting in the city anyway so I suppose I would have modded it by now and then it'd be getting the same or worse economy than the VFR.
i get about 42 mpg with the 120+ hp z1k...
I cant wait to beach the truck for the summer. it gets like 16 mpg.
interesting side note...
when i flog that little orange beast, its not too different... 'cept on the track, then its different.
The mileage has really amazed me with this bike. Cause the aprilia took a lot of parts and mods to get it to about 107-110 hp... she never did much better than 30-35 mpg and if i flogged it, she would dip as low as 20-25 mpg for any given day. But right outta the box, the z1k has a butt load more power and does it quietly while maintaining a high level of efficiency. pretty cool.

I'll be putting some miles on the R1 this summer in the interest of saving some loot for sure.

Figures....they always tuck it to us in the good weather.
What they should be saying is rather than a correction, "here comes your summertime gas hike."
My Katana gets about 49/gallon, even jetted and regeared, so I'm psyched.

The 12R sucks fuel like it's no ones business. I average about 33mpg. When I take it easy on a long trip, I have managed 40mpg. When we were having fun in NH last summer (http://www.nestreetriders.com/forum/...threadid=12447) I got a paltry 24mpg!
That settles it. I'm getting a Honda Spree!

Ehh, I ride a commuter train ~90 miles/day and use the subway once I'm in Boston.
Either way, it's always the same price.
I hope the gas prices go down in 5-7 years when I have my own car.
New England is high compared to the
SE: Georgia is the king of truck stop cheap fuel....
Louisianna 10 cents less than us in Feb 2005.
Northern (I-10) Fla same prices as NE.
Cheap gas pockets of NE:
Concord NH exit 13/14 $1.83 last weekend
Peabody MA. $1.87 last night Gulf
N.Andover/Lawrence 114 Gulf, used to be the cheap guy trying to put Mobil out of business. But now he's on par or higher than these places above.
( I suspect he couldn't beat Mobil at 25cents less a gallon, so he's making more profit dividing the difference.)
Mobil stopped advertising their prices when he was 25 cents below....
Chicago / Midwest have been on the news at $2.15 a gallon when we were crying at $1.89
Cali: They've been over $2.00 for 87 Octane for years.
Hawai i, two years ago, was $2.21-$2.15 for a gallon.
And lastly, buy gas by the liter in Canada........
Outside of the cities, there's cheaper gas to be had............
Springfield: Ludlow always been cheaper.
I'd suspect a depressed area like Fall River would be cheap gas too......

Actually, the singing bridge Pride station at Chicipee falls always has the lowest price. I'd be willing to bet it's close to the lowest price in the state.

Oh yah that Pride at Chicopee falls is ridiculous! My grandparents live about a mile from there... it always pays to fill up there.
There is a Hess here in Waltham that is always really low, I tend to go there.
Pride, Hess and other obscure brands will "git" ya the cheapest prices.
How do I get there when passin thru?
That strip joint East off 33 still there?
-Suf Daddy
Suf Daddy.
I think the dirty strip joint is still there. Get off at 33 and head towards springfield. It's at the end of 33 right before the bridge. Ya can't miss it.

With the 31ish mpg of the bike, and the 27ish of the Subaru its not worth the risk of 40miles on Rt2 every day...
Now when I move closer and get another route... HELL YEA!

I can't wait for warmer weather so i can commute on the bike again. I averaged 46 mpg on my R1 last year riding back and forth to work, my truck gets 13-14 average, maybe 15 if i really baby it![]()
