A Vermont State Trooper pulled me over coming home from work a few years ago. The window is down, my hands are on the wheel in plain site as he approaches the car.
Good Evening, Do you know why I'm pulling you over?
Because I'm an idiot...
He folds at the waist laughing, comes back up - As long as we're on the same page. License, registration, and insurance please.
He comes back 5 minutes later - Verbal warning, slow it down, have a nice day...

For every action there is an equal but opposite reaction - and sometimes a scar...
I've always been nice, polite, respectful, and they still write me a ticket...
I do, especially when one signals me to do so. :-P

My wife's coworker was pulled over for doing 75 in a 40 on Rt 7 a couple of weeks ago. Long story short the officer reduced the ticket because he was the first motorcyclist that day that didn't run when he turned on the blue lights. The previous 3 bikes had attempted to elude the officer (I don't know if they were successful).

I got my first ticket on my bike couple weeks ago. I was completely by myself on a straight away by Umass Lowell. The cops usually hide behind the corner of the building and he's got a perfect line of sight at least a mile down the road. I wasn't aware of this since I'm not from the area.
I was straight up speeding with no excuses. I was ladar'd at 80 in a 40 and my license could have been yanked for doing that. I was super respecful to the cop and did not bullshit him at all. I knew I was going to get some sort of citation where I was going to have to pay a fine, but I told myself if I'm super respectful he might cut me some slack. So basically instead of writing me up for an 80 in a 40 which would have been a $400 ticket, he wrote me up for 60 in a 40 which was $200. It def helps to be polite.
I've never done it, no need since I've only been pulled over twice and once was on the bike so there was really nothing I could hike up since I was all covered..but I have plenty of friends that have gotten out of tickets for showing a little skin. Me, I just try to be polite and smile and![]()
