The previous 3 bikes had attempted to elude the officer (I don't know if they were successful).
I remember that day well - VSP New Haven had three chases with bikes. In two of them, license plates were observed, so they didn't bother too much with the chases.

Yep, last time I was pulled over was the same deal -- nice day, I was out enjoying the back roads, picked up a little too much speed through a small town. I was very polite to the cop, and he was very polite right back at me and just told me to watch my speed in the small towns.
Politeness and respect doesn't always work (especially with NY state troopers), but it certainly doesn't hurt!

I do admitt to speeding when pulled over, but I never say I am sorry. That has always worked for me.

Driving since I was 16 1/2, I'm now 22 only time I've got pulled over was back in 2005 for a red light it was clearly yellow but I was too lazy to fight it so I paid the damn $100 ticket... but since then never been pulled over.. *knocks on wood*

Isnt it kind of stupid to be doing 49 in a 30 ?
And speed limits generally account for more than just daytime situations

Re: A reminder if pulled over for speeding
Even if you intend to tap-dance across the cop's scalp in court, ya never give him shit on the side of the road..Ever. Sometimes, that negates the need to tap-dance across the cop's scalp in court, as we've seen here. Cops wanna feel the love, too. If he's feelin' it when he pulls ya over, ya MIGHT NOT have to show him up in court if he doesn't write ya. Otherwise, put on your dancin' shoes!

Re: A reminder if pulled over for speeding
I've been pulled over many a times. Before I joined the military AND got smart as to how to act when pulled over, I usually never got a warning, but was only pulled over a few times. Since being in the military (even without showing an I.D.) I have never been found at fault for a ticket. I have only been given one citation (Christmas night, 08) which was honestly more of being targented in a nice car (my Evo) which was loaded down with house warming gifts, my ex and my dog. I walked into court from work (in uniform) and was immedeatly "thanked" for my service and had the ticket thrown out.
I've noticed that respecting the officer by putting them at ease (turning off the car, turning on the lights, rolling down my window AND my rear window, being polite, using sir/ma'am and even maybe joking a bit/poking fun at myself for being dumb & speeding leads to me getting let go with at worse a written warning. I've got plenty of respect for cops now a days. I know they are just doing their jobs trying to keep the roads safe, I just get a little over zealous and like to speed a bit. If/when I get my next real ticket I will thank my lucky stars it's the first one in awhile because I know it's coming & I'm lucky it hasn't come sooner. Of course I'll still fight it and try to get away with it. :)

I usually offer hand jobs.
But only to the female cops.
