Sorry Mark - quick trip, just down and back with the wife, kid and dog. I was in Foster - at least tell me that wasn't very close to you.

It's actually a Dnepr. Crated from Russia with love and no VIN - made for a fun time fighting with the DMV for a few hours today. Still don't have it plated - should be able to square that away in the morning with yet another trip to concord.

So I took my new Dnepr on her maiden voyage today, after getting my plate (what a nightmare that was), to get inspected. I get it inspected and go home (about 6 mi between inspection and home) and I go to put it in reverse and get blasted with smoke.

After looking it over I found that the carb mixture screw is missing and that gas is spewing (hehe - I said spew) all over my garage floor. I killed the petcock (hehe) but I need the mixture screw now. Of course I can't just run to anywhere to get a carb mixture screw for a K301 russian carb so it's in the mail but I'm out for a couple of days.

Hit the rediculous top speed of the machine today too - 80 kph....that's right all she had got me to 50mph. I love it!

I'm working on getting the parts for the KLR, parts are actually in the mail as of today - I just need the right tools for the job. Working on it but I need it done soon cause the engine is making some pretty bad noises...

There are 2 special tools for it. A curved wrench and a specific puller. They want about $40 for them so I'm trying to get them from someone else that paid for em. I don't see the point of having them when they are so specific that I'll never use em again.

What did that cost you? You swapping the sidecar off to the KLR?

It's all water under the bridge, and we do enter the next round-robin. Am I wrong?

Coupla bucks. Not much since it's a 1978. I'm gonna keep it as original as possible with the exception of the carbs that I've pretty much decided need to go. Everything that I've read say that the carbs on there are either the worst or the second worst possible for the bike. Looking into some chinese ones that are said to be good.

I hoping that with a little work I can get her purring. She kinda sounds more like a cat being eaten by a coyote right now...
