Beginning in 2009 with the the Northeast Rides webpage, we have been putting together a resource of the Best Motorcycle Riding in the Northeast as a way of giving back to the Motorcycling Community. That task has now been completed almost 5 years later. The final gps files for Newfoundland have just been completed and uploaded to the website. This completes the "Best of the Northeast" section. Now we have:
1) Northeast Rides webpage: http://www.newenglandriders.org/Grea...ycle_Rides.htm. This section has rider submitted rides in GoogleMaps, Garmin GPS, GPX GPS, and Streets and Trips formats. There are over 100 rides listed.
2) Best of the Northeast website: http://www.newenglandriders.org/Best...NewEngland.htm. This section covers the Best roads, Best Scenic Views, Best Restaurants, Best Things To Do, and Best Places To Stay from Pennsylvania to Newfoundland. Everything is in GoogleMap, Garmin GPS, and GPX GPS formats. Be sure to look at the Best by State/Province page:http://www.newenglandriders.org/Best...ingByState.htm. You can easily create superb routes by directing your route over the BONE (Best of the NorthEast) roads, views, restaurants, things to see, and places to stay in these files. Try and include the views in your rides - they are spectacular.
3) The Best 3-5 Day Trips: http://www.newenglandriders.org/Best.../BestTrips.htm. These 12 trips cover the best riding locations in the Northeast. Each location has been massively researched and scouted. The locations have been used for NER Trips and have been very enjoyable.
4) Best of the Appalachians: http://www.newenglandriders.org/Grea...palachians.htm. This section has GPS files of great rides as well as rider suggestions for restaurants, places to stay etc. I included my favorites from a 3 week trip during which I rode most of the best roads. I think that the gps ride files are special.
5) Outside the Northeast: http://www.newenglandriders.org/Grea...%20Regions.htm. This section gives riding information about other States/Provinces in the East.
Future plans are to beef up the Appalachians section to include more thorough coverage of SE Ohio, West Virginia, West Maryland, Western Virginia, East Tennessee, East Kentucky, North Georgia, North South Carolina, and North Alabama. This would cover all the great riding regions that a Northeast Rider is likely to visit.
