RSV4 owners, a question or 2?
I'd be lying if I wasn't thinking about going back to a Ducati.
Hyper maybe.
Maybe.

I never got any notice of a recall, and didn't see any recalls posted on a quick google search for my year bike? I would think it would be a serious safety issue seeing the coolant runs out of the engine and covered my rear tire.

I'd be lying if I said I plan on keep this bike. A quick service turn around may change my mind for now, but I don't have high hopes.

A 2014 R1 is possible if it's redesigned:whistle: I know this is a shocker, but I actually like the latest generation GSXR's :fro:
Yes, I was there a month ago...asking about a faint coolant smell, and a coolant hose that collapses when the engine is cold

Seacoast has been great to deal with through my year of ownership and I was actually surprised that Aprilia stepped up to cover the third throttle demand sensor for my RSV4 under warranty. That being said, I don't think there will be much more support and more out of pocket expenses as the years go on.

Just tell them to keep it, and give you an r1 and some dollars.

Why? What is happening? Is it not being fixed?

If you're serious, I'll be over in 25 minutes:D Be warned, I probably won't be in a hurry to return that bike

Does it ever end?
I picked the bike up today, rode it for a bit and see the hose has collapsed again after it cools down!
Back on the phone in the morning!

Re: RSV4 owners, a question or 2?
Shit that sucks.
You wouldn't consider a crossplane again? You could save thousands just by switching and have piece of mind. Granted i dont really like my r1 but i know you them.
When i bought my r1 the aprilia was on the top of the short list of possible purchases but after reading about them and talking to people it was also the first bike i was able to list without too much thought. The ducati took a ride and the rc8 took a look at there parts pricing, availability and time to repair. Really only left the r1. I dont think i gave myself enough choices. I love my gsxr's and took my old one out the other day. I cant believe how much better it is than the crossplane.

If I knew there wasn't a redesign planned for the R1 this year, I'd probably dump the Ape and buy a used crossplane, or even a leftover. That being said, I don't really want to make any moves until I see/read about the new for 2014 R1. Of course, if you want to work out a trade with your R1 and some cash for the RSV4, I'd entertain that idea...haha It's a cool bike, I love the looks of it, love the sound of it.....but that's pretty much where it ends for me

Re: RSV4 owners, a question or 2?
Just out of curiosity why don't you like the crossplane crank? I quite enjoyed it on the relatively short ride I took one out on.

Dude, Lemon law that thing.

Sorry to hear....... offer stands for the track day if you need it.......

That should be easily fixable mark. Its a simple system. I think its a kinked small hose from the overflow tank to the radiator or the vent hose from the overdlow tank is blocked or kinked.

And yet you still refuse to do the right mods to it...fail.

Re: RSV4 owners, a question or 2?
I just dont ride it enough at this point to put any money into it. Its a 2010 with 1500 miles on it. My gsxr has 55k and my rd350 has close to 20k. Id rather put money in those.
Even if i did mod it the bike just isnt for me. After riding my gsxr last week i have zero desire to to ride it at all. Its now my back up bike since my gsxr is running again. Sad i know but it is what it is.

I just dont really like the whole bike as a package. I do like the crossplane motor but the rest of it doesnt do it for me.
Like csmutty keeps pointing out to me I have to mod the ecu for it to be a better bike. I haven't done that yet, im probably not going to do that and i shouldn't have to do that a bike unless im looking for every bit of power from it which im not. The fact thats it's pretty much a manditory mod to get the bike to run better in general just bothers me. So it will continue to sit in the corner of my shed.

Id actually consider it but the r1 has such a low value i just cant justify it.

It's a $50-$100 mod....
And blame the EPA. Every new bike manufacturer is doing that now btw...
