It was great to see you as well Pat as always:)
Thanks for the compliments!
I need some time riding it before I can say how it is vs the R1, and of course try and follow the engine run-in for a bit. First impression, the R1 has a bit more grunt at lower RPM and is a bit smoother. Seating possition is surprisingly similar, though the RSV4 is a bit higher as jcbell mentioned

Mark, let's get out for a ride!!
Re: School me on the RSV4!
I have to say, from what I know of you, it seems clear that when you do something.. you do it RIGHT.
Nice motorbike there. Enjoy it.
Re: School me on the RSV4!
:beerbang:sounds as good as it looks, sweet bike:twothumb: nice ride today.
hadn't seen this post earlier, hence my surprise at the gas station.
Re: School me on the RSV4!
Mark ,
I am putting dibs on this bike when it is up for sale in a few years. I missed out on the WR450 and I don't want to miss this.
Off topic :
Speaking of that WR , Sean , is that for sale yet ?
:-)

I found myself short shifting the heck out of it, say 7k rpm or so. I know yours is stil in break-in but tell me if you do the same? Darkduc had this happen to him when he ride mine too. Hahaha
So far, I really like it, and true, a huge smile as I'm riding it! It feels similar to my R1 power wise, though I think the R1 has a bit more down low. So far I've had it up around 10k rpms...the sound is just as impressive as the feel. Once I get some more time on it, I'll have a better idea and be able to give a better report, but so far, I'm very happy with it. The electric shifter is pretty cool..the faster and more throttle you give, the smoother it works.
Re: School me on the RSV4!
Oh wow that was you test riding last Saturday? I was the one there that showed James how to put the Tuono in track mode. Glad you liked it. I love my Tuono.

Attachment 31389Nice bike we should all get together! 2010 rsv4 white
Re: School me on the RSV4!
So you did get a white!! Haha enjoy mark. Btw I hope they told Yamaha doesn't make this one. Ooops
Re: School me on the RSV4!
I have had my factory for a year now and it has been very good to me. I love the bike. It still excites me every time I get on it. The more you ride it the better it gets. Once you do things like the slip on and change the gearing it won't feel like the r1 any longer. If we get out for a ride, I'll let you take mine for a bit to see what potential lies beneath, but I'll warn you it gets expensive fast!!!!!!
Re: School me on the RSV4!
500 miles on the clock in the first week, so far I'm really impressed with the bike! :twothumb:
Just a few minor details I don't care for, the left hand grip is a bit to "busy" with controls..mostly the signals and mode switches both being slide type switches stacked. It'l just take some getting used to. No outside air temp? Just something I've liked from the past 5 years on the Yamaha's. And I can't see anything out of the mirrors!
I ordered an Evo Tech Tail Tidy and installed that last night. Big difference for sure!
painfull week this week, time to go register and pay the sales tax:mad2:

Re: School me on the RSV4!
nice. a tail tidy is the first mod I do on any bike. makes all the difference.
Re: School me on the RSV4!
Wow, that's bad gas mileage!
Re: School me on the RSV4!
dont they require dropping the motor to do some maintenance...??? Ive read some horror stories....Can anyone help me out here? Valve adjustment etc...??
fit and finish is classic aprilia.. AWSOME>

I was shocked when we met up at the gas station for a ride and Mark said the range was about 75-80 miles till the light, makes my Hypers 105 mile range seem reasonable:hmm:

It was bad at first, but it's improved a little with time and after I changed the oil the first time. Not as bad as yours, I was in the 29-30 mpg range at first and the last couple tanks I've been around 34-35 mpg. Not bad, that's what my R1 used to get. The light comes on around 100 miles or so, but it only takes about 3 gallons or so, another 1.5 left according to specs.

I havn't looked into the valve adjustment specs yet, but the oil change was way easier than past bikes. A few screwy bolt locations in the bodywork, but now I know they are there, it will be easier next time. I wouldn't say the fit & finish is awesome, but it is OK!

It's on par with your bike now, I think I only had less than 200 miles on it when we rode. Busy week here, but maybe ride next week after work?
