Even on a bicycle you have the right to a whole lane in a high traffic, low speed situation like that, if you choose to take it.

Good to hear you're OK. I had a woman in a Lexus try to pass me on the right and squeeze me yesterday to try and go around traffic. She got a good honk from the horn which stopped her and then she got an earful.. stopped short of kicking her car though.

I wonder how hard it would be to learn how to bunny hop an SV onto the curb..

Be prepared, they will try to do it to you every chance they get.

    that was your new bike?

    question for everyone?
so if somebody did that and you kick the car, everything will stop, the cops will be there, and what kind of trouble will you be in? wouldn't it be better to just kick the car?

dude that sucks... that sucks... I remember one day back in Fall River when a guy blew a light and almost creamed me at an intersection.. I chased him for two miles or so.. running alongside his window screaming and banging on his car trying to get him to pull over so I could beat the shit outta him... stupid looking back at it but at the time I was soooo pissed I would have killed him if had gotten outta his car.. at least you and the bike have only minimal damage...but ya live n learn and now I'm sure the next time you'll handle the situation a bit differently.

I guess I must not be like everyone else, 'cause even before I rode a bike, even when I was 16 and started driving, everytime I came across a bike, I would make sure to stay as far away as I could from them. I still remember studying my CT driver's manual back in '89 just prior to my license, and it said (with respect to following distances)

    Cars: 2 seconds
    Bikes: 4 seconds

Guess I'm one of the few that actually read the book...
hey i read the book too. which book.

Hah... for windows how about an old Navy Seals dive knife.. Possibly the best anti-cager weapon I've ever seen and one of the coolest knives ever.

It screws into an incredibly thick brass holster/holder. The seals would use it in the holster to tap on the hulls of boats to find parts of the hull which are not very thick. It weighs about 7-10lbs I'd guess.

It would break a window incredibly easy. Then when the cager gets out you unscrew it and all of a sudden they are looking at 12" serrated blade.. bad ass.

Find somebody to look his plate up and put a fucking brick through his front window, than donut his nice new Spring lawn and bolt outa there.

When you get a mile or so from his house, pull over to someplace quiet and quickly mount up your license plate, then get the hell outa Dodge.

Come back shortly in your car to get a good look at the scene.

Just make sure you change clothes first...and whatever you do, don't drop your bike while spinning that donut

As a matter of fact, the guy doesn't have to make contact in order for it to be leaving the scene of an accident.

....nice response from the cops huh? Wouldn't even take his plate number and go see him to lecture him. Community policing at it's best as usual. Remember the police response to this the next time you get stopped for 57 in a 55

Hehehehe, that's actually a hard-hat divers knife. You know, the old canvas suit with the big Mark-V brass helmet and fucking heavy lead boots... They're in all the movies.

A frogman tapping on the hull of his target is likely to wakeup the watchman on deck, who's got an ample supply of concussion grenades he can easily toss overboard...

Not to get technical on ya Ben or anything....

Well I was told it was old-fashioned and only given as a ceremonial thing now.

    Thanks for clearing that up.

Glad to hear your ok man! To the rest of you, I've found a key to be very accomodating in city riding. You're gonna get to a red light sonner or later. That's when that nice new beemer ends up with a new pinstripe.

Same here, I woulda claimed there was contact, hopefullyget an insurance settlement, didn't you have one of those invisible soft tissue injuries, twisted ankle.

that sucks, I have had cages pass me at stop signs cause I wasn'r quick enuf for them (meaning I really stopped for the stop sign instead of rolling thru)

In reality it's best to just let it go. It will always happen and that is why we have to be on the defensive all the time. That person already desided that they don't like bikers. Messing with them won't make it better. Beside, that person could have a screw loose and decide to pull out a gun, or just take you out with their car. I'm not afraid of anyone, but I don't stand a chance if I get whacked with a car or gun.
