Hey Everyone,
I was just wondering what everyone has for insurance and how much you pay? I just bought a new car (2003 dodge stratus RT coupe) and my insurance is really high. The RT is considered a sports car so i am in the same insurance category as my buddy who just bought a 2001 Trans AM firehawk. I'm 22 with a good driving record. no tickets, and one at fault accident (which is under review) other than that i have a clean record. But my car insurance has me wondering how much it's going to cost for a bike? any advice. thanks
My bike fuul coverage with Progressive is bout $1000 a year. 28 no tickets no accidents. my truck is bout the same just liability
talk about insurance, i called up an agency today for a quote and got just for liability @ $163. for full cover given the bad location im in i got, you ready?, $1100.
"fuckit!"
2003 Suzuki Hayabusa, full coverage just about 600 a year.
That is in Vt though.

even tho Salem's a high-premium town, about $660 / yr.
course, it doesn't cost as much to insure a kan-o-tuna as a literbike... and I AM older than dirt![]()

When you all say YEAR are you talking 12 months os just riding season?
for me: year=12 mo
I sure ain't no Randy, but (years past) I've ridden into Dec, and started up again in March. don't like to risk being uninsured on that one nice day that shows up early...![]()

Dude get a different company, there is no *way* a Dodge Stratus should be in the same category for insurance as a V8 Trans Am or even a Mustang. First off the Stratus has to be involved in a much lower # of accidents than the firebird since it has so much less power, and it is a V6 instead of a V8, most companies charge based on # of cylinders.
You are going to get hit anyway though... I had a Mustang GT when I was your age and I think the worst I got hit was $1600 one year. My 2001 SV was $900 for 9 months the first year I had it.
This year I'm paying about $1000 for my car (Focus) and $550 for the bike for 9 months. That is for full coverage, and I carry the same limits on the bike as the car.
Seeing what happened to T and the recent crap about insurance laws, etc.. even makes me tempted to raise my limits even more, at least for medical and liability.

Motorcycle insurance won't cover the driver only the passenger, as far as I know. I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure. i.e. If you crash your bike into a telephone pole and brake your leg, you better hope your heath insurance doesn't find out it was a motorcycle you were on. I'm paying a higher life insurance policy cuase I ride, my wife's policy is higher because every few years she flys to Portugal. If you fly internationally we were told your rates go up, only aq couple of buks but still I said I could be wrong
My 2000 TL-R runs less than $400 A YEAR, but I live in NH...![]()
Did you grit your teeth and try to look like Clint Fuckin' Eastwood?
Or did you lisp it all hangfisted like a fuckin' flower?
Who insures the bike? I have Liberty Mutual for my 9R and it costs about $500 a year. Bikeline insures my Concours for <$150 a year for full coverage.Originally posted by Stoneman

I paid $403 for my SV650 for full coverage and I was given an estimate for my 600RR at $567 but I'm hoping since I turned 25 that there is an additional discount I'll be eligible for. Also I have discounts for taking the MSF course, and through work. Alot of insurance companies (Commerce for sure) have discounts that most people can get, the easiest one is being a member of AAA.

Holy crap, sounds like I am getting ripped off.
I paid $950 to Progressive for full coverage last year. I called a number of places and that was the cheapest. I have a '99 ZX9R and a good driving record. I am not in the "young wippersnappers" age bracket and live in NH. What's up with that?
Guess I'll try some of your places...
Hell yeah, I'd make some phone calls, Gordon! In a 'low crime' area like you're in, I'm shocked it'd cost you that much. We get some other discounts for having so much insured through them (house, bike, Soob, Volvo, 'Vette, the BIG truck, life), but I don't think it's THAT much of a discount...
