We've discussed this in the past. Reigning theory is that it has something to do with the crown in the roads. Whutever. I got my fun out of 'em. That I know.
I haven't noticed any significant wondering with the PR4's. The front doesn't feedback as much as the Angel GT's front did, for better or for worse. They do produce a noticeable road noise, which I think is a result of the unusual siping. But I only hear it at non-highway speeds with the clutch in.

I just did WV and VA mountains, blue ridge pkwy, tail of the dragon, and random mountain roads around asheville with a two up, overloaded tiger 1050 on PR4s and it was awesome. They did a great job and I was pushing pretty hard (as hard as I dared with a passenger, anyway). So they are pretty capable.

Yeah, you got your money out of that one.
Thanks for the feedback.
I've never had a complaint on the Angels and they grip more than I need them to for street riding (sometimes spirited and/or 2-up), but it's always good to consider your options.
I've still got some more time to think on it, but we'll see. The PR3's look to be just about the same price for a set as the Angel GT's, and the PR4's are just a few bucks more.

I read user reviews obsessively before buying my latest set. And while I lack the experience some of the other guys here have, between my own experience and the reviews across the PR3, PR4, Angel ST or GT, you really can't go wrong. There are slight variations among them, but they'll all do fine.

Wirelessly posted (HTC One X+)
I just ordered a set of the PR4s. I figure even if I replace them before they run out of mileage (start to crack/rot/etc), the added traction in the wet is worth having. They just seem like a better fit for the type of riding I'm doing.
If you don't routinely scrape parts then T30's are fine
My SET was $222 delivered from Revzilla... small size

Right turns on a 2 lane the drainage crown act like banking virtual zero lean relative to the pavement
Left turns are the opposite with great lateral force friction force the crown acting as negative banking

crown of road theory is bunk, roads are crowned 2-3%, 5% max, this would account for the left bias to be maybe 1mm left of center
the reason is, we drive/ride on the right hand side of the road, left turns are on the outside radius and there for longer and right hand turns are the inside radius and therefore shorter, we spend more time leaned over in left hand turns, simple as that

my super moto ate a PR2 rear in about 6k miles which was about the same as the 2CT i had on previous. i replaced the rear with a PR4 and ive got probably between 4-5k on it this year and it still seems good. the PR2 on the front is holding up pretty good as well
When I start my KTM in the morning, rules are broken. Its inevitable...

I've used Conti Road Attack II's and found them excellent on road, track and rain.
“It's 2 minutes for any capable adult.”
And I thought I ham fisted my way through tires.
Pilot Road 2s on a SV1000 made it just over 13K miles of me commuting, weekend rips, and general knee dragging asshattery. (they also had about 2-3K on them from the PO)
Pilot road 3s and an VFR1200 Made it about 8K before the rear ate a nail. This is a 600 lb 170 hp pig. The front lasted almost 10K but some some reason that bike CHEWS front tires.
wish someone would find me an 18" rear touring tire in a 140 or 150 width![]()

I prefer the feel of the Pirelli (Angel ST/GT) over the PR, although I haven't ridden the PR4 yet. You get a bit less life, but the Angels warm up nice and quick and don't get slimy when super hot. I also love the Metzler Z8's on my ZRX which I opted for as it's designed for heavier bikes. All have been phenomenal and the Metzlers only take a bit of fiddling to adjust to their higher pressure settings. My only experience on-track on some PR3's scared me away from them a bit as they got super slimy and didn't inspire much confidence but YMMV. Find a tire you like, know the pressures to make it happy and enjoy.
20k?!?!?
quit lyin' !!
no solid responses from the fzrarchives, and on the bikebandit reviews, I've seen people say 3k/5k/10k/15k miles...with no info about the kind of bike, or where they got the tire from (some people have complained of tire sidewall cracking...I presume they bought these online and dated?)
I'd be putting it on a '95 FZR600; which is 90% commuting, 8% canyon, and 2% whoolies...so far the shinko podium 006 (an inexpensive sport? tire) is on the wear bars in under 6,000 miles...and roughly the same on a BT014 (which is softer and considered sticky)...the AM26 is only $99 + FS from motorcycle-superstore.com (which is how much a podium costs anyhow), so if it costs the same, but lasts twice as long (hopefully 12k miles??) then I'd be happy!

I got over 18k out of a set of Michelin Pilot Road 2s, and about 13k out of a set of Pilot Power 3s.
What's the difference between a bolt and a screw?
First you screw, then you bolt.
You two are incredible. 10k and I'm happy. I think I'm averaging 8-9k out of a rear. Probably double that for a front.
yes the Hawk, all commuting duty on this rear
looking to get another 2K out of it.

this thread is now useful with pictures
you rock
I'm in
bike has over 51k on the clock (actual ~60k because of speedo gear breaking at some point in time), so I'm guessing this might be the last rear tire I ever buy for the fizzer
can you still hammer canyons with it?
