So today I decided it was a good day to crash test all my gear. Driving south on 114 in Warren, R.I. and a car runs a stop sign, car in front of me is blabbin on a cell phone, doesn't see the other car jams on his breaks, I do the same and my bike decided to throw me off into the oposite lane. I smash my head on pavement and come to a stop, get up and everything's moving and doesn't feel broken. I get the bike off to the side of the ride and the guy in front of my who jammed on his brakes asks if i'm ok I then talk to another civilian and I never saw the guy or truck again. Police come wicked good guy doesn't issue a citation. Guy was an Iraq ver and I worked a few cases with him when I worked for next town over police department. Anyways, My bike didn't hit anything or anybody else. Snapped the frame where the shifter is and broke the clutch lever. Other then that a lot of road rash to the plastics and cracked the front and rear fairing on the left side. Alpinestar boots hold up awesome just some road rash and technic pants the same. Joe Rocket leather jacket not a scratch on it. Some road rash on the hip and a swollen elbow. Motogp gauntlet gloves have a hole in the palm but not a scratch on me. Scorpion helmet took a beaten but my head is fine. Thank god for all gear all the time otherwise it would have been a lot worse. Scorpion helmet honestly saved my head from splitten open.
Wow, I am glad you are relatively okay! It could have been a lot worse you know.
What Scorpion model was the helmet - mine held up good in my head-on accident.
Ex-400. Held up AWESOME
Good to hear your not badly hurt. Maybe once you and your bike are all fixed we can all do another sHooters run with yourself, Kurt, and the whole gang.
...good to hear...really glad you're OK and you were properly equipped...
another 'positive' ATGATT story.
I'll leave it to others to extoll the value cus I don't want to be called a 'saftey nazi'...
"A man who views the world the same at 50 as he did at 20 has wasted 30 years of his life.”
Muhammad Ali.
Glad you are okay. If your helmet hit that hard you should replace it. Its done its job.
Dave there is nothing wrong with being a safety nazi.

2003 Honda RC51
And this proves that there is nothing wrong with being a safety nazi. Otherwise we would have had another "Rider Down" thread instead of a "Safety Gear Works" thread.
Glad you're ok man!
good you're ok. I just got a ex700 as a passenger/2nd helmet. Scorpion's stuff is very good quality, good to know it holds up well.

glad to see you held up good! Sorry to hear about the bike though...the important stuff was saved though.
Glad to hear you are alright, sucks about the bike though. Having a good helmet is key, I just bought a suomy for a new helmet and love it.

yea former LEO for over two years. Whole family is either LEO or military so force of habit.
Thanks for the well wishes everybody I call the insurance company tomorrow to see what is gonna happen. The frame broke where the shifter and frame meet so I am assuming they may total it, but I'm not sure. If they do total it any idea how much I would approximately get for a 2001 suzuki GSXR 600?
