So i got stopped with only a permit. I was riding alone, and a local LEO decided to run my plate (was not speeding, etc...) Anyway, i pulled over into a gas station and waited for my ticket. Only, there is no fine, only a court date. Anyone know what is going to happen here? Delay of moto endorsement on license, slap on wrist? I'm still going to the DMV on friday when my permit is up to get my license and the court date is mid August.
they are going to castrate you then put you in the town square as a public display

Why did he stop you?
How is it illegal to ride when you have your permit?
I put over 10k miles on my permit before I turned 16 and a half.....no issues.

In RI, you need to be with a "licensed for 1 yr rider" as a buddy. When i asked why i was stopped, he said "because you don't have a licence, and are alone" By just running my plate, he was able to tell.
get your MC license. Bring it to court...fall on you knees...ect. You will probably be okay.
If you were not speeding (or anything else), most magistrates will let it go with a slap on the wrist.
How far were you from home. You need to apologize to the court and it is best if you can explain to the court that it was a short trip (or you buddy left you a short while back). Also, if you took the MSF course it would help.
Also, don't be an asshole. Don't ride illegally again (at least till you get your license).
Also:
(1) any tickets on your record, and
(2) how old are you.
I've see it dismissed in MA (riding at night (or something like that) with a permit) if you come to court with a MC license.
Oh, and welcome to NESR.

I have taken the MSF course, i was not breaking any laws, other than being alone, but i also did not have an inspection yet. I will have my license at the time of the court date. My driving record isn't that great, all speeding violations. And i'm 27.
If you were not speeding or anything...dress nicely and comb you hair.
Explain that you have taken the MSF course (i.e., you have tried to do the right thing and have had professional instruction), were not acting crazy (e.g., speeding), were just enjoying your new bike, that you understand that you were mistaken, and have since received your MC license.
Likely the judge will let it go. No guarentee, but more likely than not.
Do you recieve your license upon completion of the MSF course in RI like it does in MA, or do you have to go back to the DMV & take their test?
If it's like MA, you've completed & passed the MSF course & all he wrote you up for was not having a license I can't see how it wouldn't get thrown out in court.

Haha, this is funny! Not in the sense that you got pulled over, but I got a call today from your sis to come bail you out I'm pretty sure, unless there are two 27 year olds with their permit that got pulled over in the ocean state today.
Why do you have a court date automatically? I rode the entire month alone with my permit, at night sometimes, with a passenger even... I think I was just lucky to not get bagged by the leo's. Cops didnt even say anything when an old guy hit my bike and I was alone.
If you are kelly's bro, sorry that I couldnt come help ya since I got two months til I've been licensed for a year, but yeh we should rip it up on the island sometime if you're lookin for someone to ride with.
Yep, that was me. I was waiting around and a guy on a cruiser stopped to get fuel as well. I explained the situation to him, filled up his tank for him on my dime and he let me ride with him back to portsmouth from middletown.
That cop is a total douchebag. I think you would be safer riding alone without the distraction of another "buddy" rider. Unless you are following Kevin Schwantz or something, I don't see how that is safer.
