Bandit ergos look just like the SV.
2023 KTM 890 Adventure R
2003 SV650n compared to 2011 Bandit 1250S
SV seat height is a little over 0.5" higher
SV has almost a 10-degree greater forward lean
SV has a very slightly greater knee bend
SV has a more than 10-degree greater "hip angle" (greater means more crouched)

True that when a Tiger 800 shows up on the used market, they are usually gone in a matter of days, if not hours.
And I know why. Love mine!!

I went from my 03 SV1000 to my 05 DL1000. Great bike, but I'm 6'5" and just as stout. Bike works great for me. Handles well for most everything, I even had it on the track last year, too. All the mods are on mine like everyone mentioned (Leo Vince, Power Commander, Power Distribution blocks, Headlight cut switches, Sergeant seat, yadda, yadda), and the bike is great. Downfalls are this. Wobbles at high speeds with luggage (this pisses me off to no end) due to the bike being so tall and having weak suspension components. Weak stator. You have like 170 watts to play with, so electrics for both passengers are out, thats why you cut out one headlight if you don't need it. Bullet proof motor otherwise, will need to upgrade the suspension if two up is going to happen a lot. It can gobble up a ton of miles quickly, 5-700 mile days are a breeze on this thing. Its a bigger bike physically than a 1200GS/GSA, I've ridden both, and if I had my choice, I'd buy the s-10. My .02 cents.
Meaning choice of preferred bike or physical size? I did 2K miles on a GS in California in 3 days. I was ok riding it, but it was a tighter fit than the Strom. Rider position is longer. I took pics of me sitting on both bikes before I bought the Strom. A GSA would be my first choice, but college tuition prevents me from choosing it and leaning towards the S-10.
I know you mentioned a buell in one of the first post's. this has been on adv rider for a little bit its in the worcester area.I personally like the buells too. http://advrider.com/forums/showthrea...ighlight=buell
I had an FZ6 and the ergos are great - it is by far sportier than any of the DL's. Another bike no one mentioned that you could pick up for close to 3500 is a Versys. I have ridden it as well. It is a sportier than the DL, tall as well and comfy. It is less of an adventure bike and likely not as good on the highway.
Dl1000 I have and am please especially if human posture is an issue
IF your finicky it needs a power commander
