I am the bearer of bad news this evening.
Our friend and resident *sarcasm-ist* has been in an accident.
Taylor Wray, TWRayinma, hit a car last night after he left the group ride. As i understand it, he was cruising down 117 and came upon a notorious intersection, a car pulled up from the street on the right of the intersection. The car stopped, then pulled forward an inch, then stopped again and Taylor thought the car saw him. But it didn't. The car pulled out and taylor's forks met the front wheel of the car and T. was doing his best impersonation of superman. I guess he was going about 40 upon impact.
Apparently Taylor still needs to work on his landings after superman impersonations. Upon impact with the ground he managed to snap his femur in a spiral fracture and then flipped around and fucked up his wrist in many places. (lots of small bones in there). Fortunately thats all that happened though. His helmet was left intact and no skin grafts will be necessary. Joe Rocket showed his worth once again.
He has had some surgery, something like a big rod put in his leg, through his knee and his wrist is splinted. He has a remote morphine drip and looks generally great for what he has been through. (he does look a lot less ugly on most days) You can sooooo..... tell he is an engineer.... even now, while in a barely conscious state due to meds, he and his wife managed to figure out exactly how often he can hit the morphine button (since timing and number of doses are limiited). On top of that it looked like they have some count down timer setup on a laptop to let them know when its cool to push that magic button again.
So theres the report, he thinks the SV will be totalled and has not yet received a police report, i guess the cops are being difficult about it. He will also be in the hospital for a few days for recovery, and possibly rehab after that. Upon Taylor's return i am sure he will fill us in on the exact details.
So Taylor... i know it will be afew days before you get outta the hospital, but when you get out you can read this and all the other get well wishes i am sure will follow...
Get better soon buddy!!!!! let me know what i can do in the coming months to help you and your wife get you back on your feet and wheels!!!!

Talk about rotten luck, twice in one year and both cage related.

Hang in there bud....

Whats the sense in putting it away anyway? I ride in full leathers all year. Last year we were out in 20 degree weather for 2 or three hours at a time. Much more fun than winterizing it and rubbing it with a diaper till spring! Get some UNperforated leathers and some underskins and you're good.

What do you take a blow torch to the tires to get them heated up???Originally posted by GuntherRC51

Right now he is in the Lahey Clinic in Burlington, Ma. I believe he will be heading home some time around thursday or friday, you might want to call the hospital to find out exactly when visiting hours are.
I just stopped by the hospital last night and the information desk told me where his room was. easy as that. Right now i am outta town and can't help much more than that from NJ.
