Re: you want to talk about a squid?....
when i was stationed in AZ i had a ZX-7R owning room mate that i often saw doing this on long slab rides from yuma to phoenix. i would watch confused from the corbin saddle of my double bubbled ZX-12R...with fat gel grips adapted from a gold wing. did i mention i'm only 5'5"...i could put the bike in neutral go in the back and make coffee.
one day i rode his ZX-7 back from phoenix to yuma for him. by the time i made it to gila bend i was ready to set it on fire and tell him it was stolen while i was in the shitter. i had to resort to laying down just to make it back not permanently shaped like a question mark.
...but never in traffic that heavy

Yeah... its not like I tuck when I hit 40... typically its anything 80+, but then again, perhaps I shouldn'g be going over 80....

Re: you want to talk about a squid?....
I remember my first tuck. 6th grade, sitting in class thinking about baywatch. The teacher calls to the front of the class, but I'm sporting a full on cMan God What should I do? Refuse to go up there and stay in my seat? Fly my flag freely and try not to hit anyone with my pants-tent?
No. Tuck. In a flash of inspiration, I tucked. Suddenly it all became clear. This is why men have waist bands! Your belt isn't meant to hold up your pants, its sole purpose is erection wrangling, securing your salami, a leash for your meat! Its a goddamn boner tie-down!
I trudged on up to the board and gave a wrong answer to the math question with pride in my heart and my shirt covering my shame.
Thanks for for bringing back memories.:bananna::hellyeah:

Why do you need to tuck on the highway? I ride a Monster which is also fairly upright and I've never had the need to tuck. I don't get it, and I think it looks retarded, along with riding with your feet on the passenger pegs. :mope:

I find it really uncomfortable at 80+. The stock screen on the ninja directs the air right at my shoulders/neck.
I could give a fuck if it looks retarded.

The only wind screen I've seen that was smaller than mine is the one on the Tuono and I've never felt the need to tuck. Whatever floats your boat I guess:smash:

One of my buddies in college did that during a group project presentation. Unfortunately, when he went to write calculations for an otto cycle on the whiteboard, while reaching really high on the board, his shirt was too short to cover his manhood. Everyone got a nice look at his one eyed monster. I immediately dropped to the floor laughing when the two girls in my engineering class gasped. Such a fuckin good memory :drink:
But seriously, why tuck on the highway? Wind? I like wind. And if it's cold out, wear some warm gear? I know cops speed guns automatically point to the tucked biker because cops judge you on whether you think you're speed racer or not.
I guess I can't be a hypocrite: I've tucked once. But it was when me and my buddy were doing a 'downhill challege' and killing our bikes in neutral and seeing how far we could roll. :mope:

Re: you want to talk about a squid?....
my rule of thumb was always...tuck at anything over 150...otherwise you are just being retarded.
on a naked bike the tuck is acceptable once you clear 120.
these are the rules of the tuck...obey them.

Well, you men with your superior upper body strength can abide by those rules... my tits and I will stay comfortably behind the screen at 80+.

The 650R has a design flaw which causes the stock screen to buzz like a motherfucker at lower RPMs. I was planning on ordering a new one for it in the next few days, but wanted advice on which one to get. I was thinking the touring one, but don't know if thats overkill.

What, are you posting from your cellphone? During an earthquake? While on your bike? Is this actually Coco the gorilla? My spellchecker lights up like a Christmas tree on your posts. I'm just joking with you, but damn!

I had a double bubble on my 996 and it worked pretty well. However, I bought the bike with the double bubble screen already mounted and I never got around to trying the touring shield, so I can't offer too much advice on which model to choose.
If you buy one that does not live up to your expectations, you could always sell it on ebay and try another screen.

Re: you want to talk about a squid?....
Can we agree that People who like to ride with there feet on the passenger pags and tuck should ride with feet on the pegs in a tuck. And those who dont like it wont do it.

Someone called you a bunch of Nazis and although that may be extreme it's not that far off. Encourage don't discourage. Theres plenty to learn in the "sport" and there isn't one person on this board who has learned it all or reached a point of motorcycle omniscience. Not only that but I for one would rather the whole world rode. So when you see something you consider a bone head move let them know but not by shaking your head, taking pictures of them and calling them losers. If you can teach them something through actions or words.
Dude... Good post!! :beerbang:
Although If you can't get comfortable on your bike and not look like a douche maybe you need a new bike that is more comfy.
I agree with alot you said in the last paragraph. Thank you for the intelligent post! I will try to raise my "gear Nazi" posting to a better level because of it.
(No I am not joking)

Re: you want to talk about a squid?....
i'd say 85 over wind is enough to feel the need to tuck for small guys . but i guess nothing can knock the big big fat guy off the seat... base ball bat maybe. :teehee:

There's nothing more exhilarating than pointing out the shortcomings of others, is there?

You can tuck without putting your feet on the passenger pegs... or the seat.
I understand the wind blast thing but why don't the racer guys put their feet back there?
