Has anyone mounted a radar detector to their bike? I'm thinking about getting a cordless one and mounting it somewhere
My concern is I won't hear the alert when it goes off. If anyone has any feedback that would be great..thanks

Most of the guys I've seen using radar detectors put them in the top of their tank bag and use an earbud to hear it go off. Also, there's a detectoe out there somewhere that has an add-on accessory for a indicator light that mounts inside the helmet.

I would stay away from the cordless use ofdetectors, the ones that are cabable of cordless operation are not as sensitive in that mode, and their sensitivity goes down with the batteries, plan on hard wiring.
IMHO a Valentine is the best, but also pricey, $400 for the "locator" another $60 for the remote adaptor so that you can plug in a speaker or earbud. other high quality options are Bel, and Escort/Passport detectors,
I use a mini speaker that stays in the speaker pocket i my helmet rather than an earbud.
there is also a device called a "screamer" that is loud enuf you don't have to have a cord running to your helmet.

I run a Bel, it is great on sensitivity. But I feel it is only good for the 10-20 over. Your 30-40 over blasts by the time you hear it your on him.
Thanks for tips..is your Bel a cordless model?

My bel is Hardwired, it also has a remote receiving unit, which is mounted inside of my windscreen pointed outwards. And my sounding/light unit is only 3in wide 2.5 in wide and 1in thick. And I have that mounted on the top/inside of my windscreenOriginally posted by Lucky13

My old man has a bike specific Whistler I think is the name, his receiving unit is mounted to his fork leg and the main unit is mounted on his upper fairing stay on his ZX9R.
