Rather than giving us a call, I'll give a quick summary for all.

TPX was rated on par with the highest end automotive radar detectors available by Speed Measurement Laboratories, which happens to be the most highly regard testing facility. So as far as it's abilities as a radar detector it is every bit as good as the Escort. What really sets the TPX apart is the fact that it is designed for bikes. It is water proof. We have had the bikes in the down pour, we have poured buckets of water on the detector, it doesn't phase it at all. The TPX units are the easiest to install as well. Very simple, straight forward. It has big buttons which makes operation easy even with gloves on, even if we have insulated heated gloves. The unit itself is also very shock and vibration resistant. What I personally like best is the little LED alert light that you mount on top of your gauge cluster. We have them right above the tach so it makes it very easy to see. Or you can run a wireless headset alert which can be heard over your ear buds if you are listening to music. We have had them for almost a full year and so far they have preformed excellent for us. I've been eyeing the TPX for a while now. Haven't pulled the trigger yet because I'm hoping that my s.o. would get it for me for Christmas. I've asked for it but I don't always get what I ask for. If I don't get it, then I'm getting one for myself for sure.

I met the guys at TPX at Twisted Throttle's open house a few months ago and their founder is a bike nut. He was telling me about doing product testing in the middle of winter in New York on his SV and how he's got something like 10,000 miles in one summer!

As good as it sounds, I think I'd still rather get a V1 and be able to use in in my car and bike (there are waterproof cases for it). The extra motorcycle-friendly accessories for the TPX are enticing though.

All I know is I've had my V1 for years and it has yet to let me down. It's paid for itself numerous times.

Just bringing in another opinion, not trying to start any trouble.

Not to take the discussion off track or one-up you, but 10k miles in a season isn't really all that much. I'm sure a large number of members here have done it, myself included.

I'm just a wuss. I top out around 6k a season. I'm impressed by anyone who rides more than I do.

But riding in the dead of winter... that's something else. I avoid it like the plague!
