    Trackday, Tuesday 10/7

I think I'm all done with track days at loudon and if I do go again it would be only one or so.

I find this to be a very odd statement.

For most people, riding on the street is great, but the opportunity to do what you did on the track is better.

While I can't say that I improved much in my last few years of racing, I certainly had a blast.

My last group street ride proved to me that I have no desire for fast street riding anymore... so now that I'm done racing, doing track days (and dirt riding) is how I plan to satisfy my "need for speed".

I wholeheartedly agree with 35racer. How can you pssibly say, after a track day, that you're done with them?

Hoe could that track day not light a fire in your belly for more?! And another fire under your ass to go faster, get smoother, drag your knee??!

The track is one loong twisty road with no cages, no dogs, no kids, no lines, no cops, and PERFECT pavement (except for that shitty transition at Loudon between the bike track and the NASCAR oval).....

Zombie, I'm not saying your wrong or anything, but I absolutely cannot fathom how you could even JOKE abot not wanting to go to the track anymore..... I mean, it's just so ....... FUN!

Yeah, after my 1st track day I was like "fuck the street! get me to the track!!!"

I guess it's all in how you like to ride. Personally, I'm not happy unless I'm going mach 2 with my hair on fire.

ahh see, i wouldn't say that it's speed alone that attracts me to the track. i don't ride for the speed, i ride for the twisties. so for me, i have a ton of fun on the street (lots of twisites in southern vt for me to play on and they're right outside my door) and more on the track!

true Tony for most people but then again I'm not most people
If it works for you thats fine but if I do another track day it will be at a different track ..
I love street riding whether it's riding twisties or slabbing to NYC or riding to Texas I just don't care , as long as I'm in motion I'm a pretty happy camper.
I have ridden on the street all my life and didn't drive a car till I came to America so motorcycling works for me.
I have had and ridden all types of motorcycles from old british bikes to harley choppers to sportbikes and my new fave for the moment anyway , my triumph tiger.
So for me it's all about riding and as my comment about not doing another track day well that came about as a result of putting in a lot of laps and then thinking to myself , how many more times do I really want to look at turn 3 or the bowl for that matter.
I just felt I had my fill of loudon .
I would like to say at this point if you have never done a track day then you should think about doing one as it is a very good experience and I highly recommend it.

This summer was a blast for me as I did an awful lot of riding and even would leave my house on a sunday morning slab it to the track to see the boys race have breakfast and then slab home for a grand total of over 400miles. So whatever works for ya do it..
I have my tiger a little over a year and a half and have put 17k on it and another 5k this year on my RF900.

Believe me... I all for "to each his own" and I know there's plenty of people that don't feel the need to go on the track.

My bewilderment is that it sounded like you had an awesome day at the track ... then said you didn't feel the need to do it anymore.

I was just amazed because as others have said, the track is usually very addicting... even if you don't want to race.

I think it's great that you do lots of street miles... and I plan to really increase the number I do also. But there's something about letting it "hang out" that gets my blood going and I only feel comfortable doing that on the track.

    Have Fun wherever you ride.

DAYAMN! I'd love the opp's to look at T-3 or T-6 a hundred times in a day just to find the best line through...

I found that riding on the track improved my skills greatly, which carries over on to the street. I find most so called twisty street rides are a joke compared to riding on the track. I myself thought my skills were pretty good till I showed up for my first trackday, what a reality slap. I was a freaken turtle, compared to other riders. Like Tony, I have no desire to do fast rides on the street , too many unknowns.
