Trading in & buying dual sport... no, not me ;)

A guy at work is looking to trade in his old Kawasaki (or perhaps get it serivced and sell it privately) and pick up a dual sport like a V-strom 650 or something along those lines... He lives in Rockport, MA and is done dealing with Cycles as they jerked him around five two many times.

I recommended Plaistow Power Sports and Souhegan Valley Motorsports but do you guys have any suggestions for places to get his kawi serviced or pick up a new ride? Budget is roughly 4-8k.

(I pointed him towards ADVrider as well, but the guy's a busy man and has very little down time to surf the boards)

I have never bought from them, but have had good experiences at National Powersports in Pembroke, NH... at least as a window shopper and once helping a friend look for a bike. I honestly don't know much about them, but they seem fair and best of all, they seem to get a lot of turnover in their inventory. I think you can see what they have online too, which could save him a trip.

He could call Kari at Billerica Motorsports (978) 667-1518 or Jennifer at Hudson Cycle Center in Hudson NH (603) 882-1573
Both will treat him right and you can have him say I sent him.

Riverside in Somerville? Never bought from them but my dealings with them for parts when I had a 636 were always positive.

Tell him to buy used if he can, and private party. The money he wants to spend will go way further on Craiglist than it would from a dealership.

Crap. Another guy looking for a V-Strom.

I've happily bought parts from Plaistow Powersports. They had a used bike on their site I was about to go check out, although now its gone.

Drove up to Pembroke to check out National Powersports recently. Guy I know 'highly' recommended. No test rides on their used stuff, their prices seemed pretty high and they would not negotiate. I had a hard time seeing why so popular. Their shop is neat though and their selection is pretty good. They had two V-Stroms on the sales floor when I was there.

Also went over to Freedom Cycle on my way back to the highway. They had a far better used inventory than I expected.. several nice sport-tourers.

None of this is local to your buddy though.
