Parts Unlimited (NESR, watch your ass when ordering parts!)

Ordered my 114 link chain and 16 tooth front and 44 tooth rear sprockets the other day for the Fizzy.

Picked up the parts yesterday and decided to pull the bike out to the driveway to mount the sprockets and chain on today. Figured it was nice out and my doctor says I need more vitamin D.

So I got everything installed without a problem...I thought to myself "Sweet! I'll be able to ride my FZ1 once again! "

I then proceeded to mount the wheel and noticed I couldn't get the axle through the swingarm...WTF??

First thing I did was look at my service manual...guess what...I need 116 link chain!

The Parts Unlimited catalog is incorrect for the links needed on a 2001-2005 Yamaha FZ1. They list 114 links and that information is incorrect.

At that point I recruited my neighbor to help me drag the Fizzy back into the shed. There wasn't a chance in hell I had enough time to take it all apart enough to be able to roll it and do all that before I had to leave for work.

    Those bastards!

It's a good thing I have another bike to ride, otherwise I'd be extremely unhappy!

    A word to the wise:
ALWAYS consult your owner's or service manual before placing special orders.

FWIW, this is the first time I've ever had an issue with Parts Unlimited in my 15 year history of ordering parts through them.

I guess mistakes are bound to happen when you publish a 3000 page book.

That would not be the only time Parts Unlimited's information was wrong. The order numbers for Racetech parts were for incorrect sizes on certain forks.

If its going to be a long turn around and you need to ride I have a brand new 520 d.I.d. x-ring chain you can trade me until TTD. That's assuming you got the same chain.

I got the OEM stuff....530, 16/44...I'm a regular kinda guy.

I appreciate the offer but I'll have a replacement by tomorrow.

For now, I'm "stuck" riding the 929...

    Thank you though!
