Well, of course..That's what I was sayin'. YOU and Kahn might have ideas far more expansive about what YOU guys could do with a 700 lb Concours14 than my ideas of what *I* can do with it. I do ok, but wheelies? Knee to the pavement? 160MPH sweeps? Not me. You guys? Sure! I guess my reluctance might be cause I'm I'm the one that paid the 14 grand for it?
Concievable?
I didn't see any wheelies or 160mph sweepers in that video![]()
But I have seen (AND RIDDEN!) bikes that cost far more than 14 grand at the track
C'mon up... Seriously, if you ride it on the street there's absolutely NO reason why you shouldn't ride it on the track.
Much more controlled environment. Less variables. More fun.

I won't take my bike on the track. When I finally do end up at the track it will probably be on a used 600 of some sort. I just can't afford to dump my bike.
I see what you are saying but I don't push it on the street so if I was at the track where the conditions are controlled I would push it a bit and try to get better.

If you can't afford to dump your bike then why even bother riding it on the street where you can get taken out by anyone or anything?
Yea, shit happens.... but that's what insurance is for.
Maybe it's because I've had ONE track day crash since I started doing them 5 years ago (and I do about 10 track days per year), but I hate that excuse more than any other. If you can't ride on the track without crashing then you need to learn some self control.
and pushing does NOT equate to crashing.

And if you think the street bikes cant do it or whatever, I was 2 seconds off my race PB on a bone stock street bike, street tires, no suspension work, everything. I wasnt even pushing the bike that hard.
Theres really no excuse not to. If you dont want to, thats fine, but dont try to use any sort of excuse.
No you are right riding harder then normal and "pushing" it does not equal crashing. Maybe because you always hear about people going down it is in my head that I will be one. Also will insurance cover a track day crash?
Oreo are all track days the same? For example Tony's, lean angle performance etc. If not which one would be best for a first timer?

Or Star Trek, as in "the wrath of".
LOL, you have induced the "wrath of kham"!
Kind of, and not really. Some are more oriented to beginners looking to learn the track, and some are less organized racers blasting around the track. Of the ones oriented to beginners, you will find they are very thorough with teaching you the track and the staff is very good at riding and very friendly.

All track days are definitely not the same.... Tony's track days are by far the best track days you'll find in the entire world... maybe the entire Solar System... but I can't say that for sure, I haven't ridden Uranus yet
Seriously though, if you come to a TTD we'll take care of ya. We really work hard to make it a positive experience for everyone, especially new track day riders.
Regarding the insurance bit, it's best to check with your insurance provider, but MOST of them WILL cover a track day mishap... if they give you any flack when you ask them tell them it's a NON-COMPETITIVE, EDUCATIONAL ENVIRONMENT. We're not technically a school, but you sure can learn a shitload about how to ride safer.

That is the most common excuse.
If you can't afford to become a better rider why did you buy such an expensive bike? (and I have seen a number of 1098s's at the track)
Take your STREETBIKE to the track. At least once. You will be glad you did.
(My 998 has no chicken strips thanks to the track.)

+1 to everything Pete has said here. Talk to your insurance, explain what it is, and more importantly what it is no - and you may well be covered.
I know I improved more in 8 hours at loudon in july than in all the preceeding months this year, and cannot wait to go back.
Oreo is kinda biasedbut in my experience he is right. Tony's is AWESOME for beginners (and experienced trackday folks alike)
I can't comment on Boston Moto as I have not attended one of their days.
LAPS is more laid back with less instruction than Tony's but they are new and growing (and cheap). I'll be at the next 2 LAPS days. Look me up if you attend.
