correction: it was Bruce, not you Jamie. you handle that bad boy RC well and your riding is inline with your experience.
sorry!
Tell ya what Kham. Get a Ducati 800, its the same money as the GSXRRRRRRR and the posing you are looking for cant get much better:D It has alot less power than the GSXR but the handling is awsome! Go check one out I think you'll like it, you loved mine.
Yes... get the Ducati.... :) :) Good bike!
Ben

Started riding dirtbikes 24 years ago, couldn't wait to get on the street. Been on the street for ?more than 10 years. Have been hit twice by the cages, and 1 lowside (manhole cover on a rainy nite). Love ripping up the twisties, but the more I ride and the more people I hear crashing, the more I think about either saving IT for the track(trackdays) or going back to the dirt. Maybe get a sport-tourer/tourer like a VFR, Futura, FJ1300, or even a Wing for the street. I will never give it completely. But since I've been riding it seems like it 's getting more dangerous out there. Wednesday nite, out for my usual ride, and the guy in front of me was hauling a lawn mower- Hit a bump and that fukin' mower jumped out and on to the pavement. Down the rode a 1/2 mile and some bitch,on the cell phone!,cuts out in font of me!
Power? Any bike can kill ya just as easy as the next. Take the winter and do some soul-searching, research some bikes, subscribe to some bike mags and buy the bike you want. If at all possible, test ride some. pick up the WANT AD, maybe some sellers would be convinced to a test ride. I have done it. Had I not tested the bike I currently own, I pdon't know what I would have missed. Just 2 miles down the road and I knew that this us the bike I want............for now!
im so ashame!!!
somebody shoot me!:bash im gonna get the same one again.
i'd say this is pretty close to what happen to me, but not that fast i dont think.

or maybe this

edit: doesn't look like they're losing traction as i watch over and over, so maybe not. i really lose traction.
now that i think about it, im not so sure. it's becoming blury. it might have been the same maner or almost same maner as the two videos above.
i think like this one. rear wheel is losing traction as front turns in.
http://www.superbike.it/mostra_immagine.asp?id=3883
ok you racers, any thoughts?
Well I'm neither an expert rider nor a particularly good student of physics. But as Joe said, both crashes appear to occur as the front wheel slides out of the curve. Also, both crashes occur at the corner exit. I don't know what the professionals do, but most of us laymen are rolling on the gas after the apex of a corner, powering out of the turn. You've done wheelies, you know what happens when you apply power to the rear wheel, the front wheel gets light.
Lighten the front wheel and you're decreasing the normal force pushing that wheel at the ground. Your traction is equal to the normal force multiplied by the coefficient of friction, so given a constant coefficient of friction, lighten the front wheel and you've just decreased the available traction. If you're already close to your traction limits, pushing the front wheel towards the inside of the turn to straighten the bike up, maybe the lightened front end is enough to exceed the traction on the front wheel.
Once you start sliding, your coefficient of friction decreases (sliding friction is lower than static friction) and you've upset the delicate balance of forces keeping that wheel. Your countersteering is trying to turn the wheel towards the inside, and there's no longer enough force to keep the wheel from sliding, so it turns in, like you see. And it looks like that's the beginning of the end.
I'm not saying that's what happened, but it appears at least a plausible situation to my physics-challenged head.:hmm:
Kham I know legalspeed mentioned this earlier, was it cold the morning you crashed? How long had you been riding, were your tires warm? Cold is going to decrease the coefficient of friction between your tires and the road, which just makes breaking traction that much easier...
that is excellent analysis. thanks.
that's probably what happen. i did gas it a little and the same time turned in a little more.
not sure how cold is the tire. i haven't ridden long at all that morning.
this is good because im learning from this.
not like "you crash because of inexperience" doesn't do anything for me. :twofinger.
this is my screw up. i gas it a bit early while leaning. :bash: i know im not suppose to that's why it's a screwup.Quote:

Kham - it's not that you're not supposed to get on the gas while leaned. Rather, you HAFTA do it SMOOTHLY. By the sounds of what you're telling us, you got on the throttle too hard (not necessarily too early) on your exit while leaned. Yes, by doing that you'll lighten the front wheel. Which isn't much of a proposition while cornering...
But I wasn't there. I'm only speculating on the info you're giving us...
real smoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooth.
ah ok cool!!!
edit: it's what im afraid might happen.
it was smooth to me and really wasn't gas that hard but maybe not. tire has something to do with it im sure.
I have felt cold tire slippage many times. Both front and rear tire. You feel it it in the seat of your pants or in your lower gut. Ive been lucky thus far to have made the rite decision when it happens, and its made me aware of the fact th at tires need a bit of warm up time.
If you haven't done so already, read Keith Code's "TWIST OF THE WRIST". It does a good job explaining fundamentals. Its a great book and might shed some light on questions or shit you were wondering about and what goes on when you pilot a bike!
I ride a VTR1000 and have been on a lot of bikes this season including the Gixxer 750 and 1k, Honda CBR 600rr, 929rr, 900rr, and an RC51, and an Aprilla Mille. Oh yeah and my shitter
The most fun, power, and handling out of all these bikes for riding the twisties in my opinion out of all the bikes is the HONDA CBR600rr.
As far as the cool factor and the raw HP and the mind blowing 0 to 60 time the Gixxer 1k is simply awsome. The 1k is a scary bike that deserves respect and a steady throttle hand.
The Gixxer 750 or the Cbr 600rr are two bikes that I would consider buying as a replacement for my liter bike. I love the Gixxer 750 it's the right balance of power and handling in a great package. As is the 600 RR.
My .02 hope it helps.
KB
KB, I think you have summed it up for Kham! I have recommended the 04 gixxer 750(write ups look great and the ones I have ridden in the past were great)! I have not been on the 600rr yet but have heard nothing but great things about it.
BTW, when are we going to ride again???????
Jamie
When you call me. Did you loose my two way? Or do I need an RC51 to ride wiht you now? :D :D
Or is it that you don't want that RC to get eaten up by the VTR. I know that's what it really is. :dunno:
Just playing.
Saturday is 50 racing day.
Sunday I have no plans as of now. If weather permits I would liek to ride. You got plans?
KB
As of right now, I was looking to ride Saturday due to weather forcast for Sunday but who knows. If it is nice I would like to ride both days! Lets see how the schedules work out.
Its not the VTR I am worried about but the guy who rides it...:D
Can you say kookoo...kookoo...:D :D
Just kidden
BTW, you have my numba as well
Jamie
