    Re: warm weather gear

I just picked up this jacket for warm weather riding:
    http://www.motorcyclecloseouts.com/h...avenger+jacket

It has so much ventalation it's like i'm not even wearing a coat. I know mesh doesn't offer much protection and it's a one crash jacket but on days like today (90 ish temps) I can't wear anything else. Mesh is better than a T-shirt though!

I use Joe rocket phoenix mesh jacket and pants. I like both of them a lot. The jacket has armour and pockets, the pants are mostly mesh with knee and hip armour...the butt, hips and knees are also the rocktex material (non mesh) so it's stronger in case of a tip over.

Rev'It Air mesh jacket for me. Great when moving in temps into the 90s. When stopped...well you're wearing a jacket in 90 degree weather.

I'm a big fan of the Cortech GX Air jacket -- mesh body, but leather panels on the shoulders, back, and elbows, with quality armor underneath. And it comes with a two-piece waterproof/thermal liner, so it's actually a really versatile jacket.

Don't take this the wrong way: what do you wear under those pants?

Shit.... There's no way to ask that without coming off weird...

I hate camelbacks. My back super-heats the water and it ends up tasting like I imagine urine tastes like. I'd rather have a jug of water in the side-case and pull over occasionally.

I have a Cortech perforated leather jacket. Sadly it is black. I'm about to go find out how bearable it is or is not in this weather.

Also have some mesh pants. I admit to wearing shorts under them.

    fricken weirdo! lol

shorts usually. the mesh is actually double layered. if i'm going to be sliding, i would guess 95% of that slide would be on the rocktex material, so I don't worry about it. The mesh is basically on your shins and calves, and front of your thighs...I was actually quite impressed when I bought them.

I always wore my perf leather Moto GP jacket and jeans...no matter the temp. Honestly, when it was this hot I probably wouldn't have taken my bike out or just lived with the sweat.

I have a Cortech like Mark. It is a great 3 season Jacket.

But then again, Shorts and a Tshirt on days like today are perfect... riding my lounge chair on my covered deck, with a beer in my hand.

There are other ways of getting hydration when riding. I have a rapid-transit recon tank bag, which is set up for a hydration pack.

Carrying water in the sidecase may work out well, but it wouldn't have saved me from when I got stuck once. I was on I-95 south, during a heatwave last year, with temps over 100. I was in full gear, in a 10-mile backup, horsebox trailer flipped over. Pulling over wasn't an option as the shoulder was needed for emergency vehicles. The only thing that saved me was my hydration pack.

    Re: warm weather gear

I have a V-Strom. There is ALWAYS a place to pull over.

That bag is cool. I have one of their smaller bags myself. My water jug fits nicely into it.

I just got back from some errands and getting a sticker for the bike. I'm drenched in sweat, but it was manageable while at speed. I wore jeans, my Cortech perforated leather jacket, and some Cortech 'mesh' gloves. Honestly the worst was my head. My new Scorpion helmet doesn't flow as much air as I would have liked. I am generally not very happy with this helmet. The Cortech gear is great though. They really do make a great product.

I don't want to come off as condescending, but I rode an entire season with a black HJC helmet that I didn't know had vents on top...and they were closed. You sure you have everything open?

    Not condescending at all.

    Yes, I am sure.

Although since you brought it up, I do find the chin vent bass ackwards compared to the HJC I had before. I often close it thinking I am opening it and vice versa.

Is this the EXO 1000 helmet? I got the EXO 1000 for a 3rd helmet and it does suck in air flow but then again I'm comparing it to my Arai RX-Q.

    Re: warm weather gear

For warm I use a First Gear Mesh Tex. I crashed in it in 2007 and it held up and protected me well.

For really warm weather, I use a Vanson Vent-Max [3]. Not the most protective but flows air like you don't have it on and offers some protection. Got it on closeout for $75 or so, not sure if they have any left.
