And to be clear, I would also appreciate if someone took my key and left a note saying they didn't want my bike to stolen. Just pointing out that the situation COULD be worse than you originally stated.

in a situation like this you really have to ask yourself.....what would Brian Boitano do?
It could also be better.
Best case scenario: You turn lights off, leave key in ignition where it sits all day. Biker gets out of work, finds key in ignition and rides home completely oblivious that an entire thread on an internet forum was started solely to discuss his bike.
Luckily we won't have to find out!
UPDATE!!! (big alert is for those who just skim through threads) :)
My new friend just called up, thanked me, and came and got the keys. He was quite grateful. "I'm glad you did what you did" were his exact words. Human kindness triumphs over the naysayers.:drink:
For some people in NH, Massachusetts is the boogie man. All crime, poverty, poor schools, etc. originated there. Very convenient never having to take responsibility for any problems.
I've noticed, though, that most people in NH who complain about "Massholes" recently immigrated.
It's nice when people aren't dicks!
feels good to do something nice and not get slapped around for it.
you should leave him a note tomorrow with this URL.
Good work Scooby.
Now maybe everyone can get their panties out of a bunch.
Good work. clad the whole key situation worked out. hope your around if im ever foolish enough to leave my key behind... seems like this guy realizes how much he owes you.
Best case scenario edit: Guy appreciates what youv done, and returns the favor some day when youv left your bike in a similar position.
heres to hoping this good deed gets rewarded!
I would have kicked the bike over to teach that dirt bag a lesson about being an idiot!
Hey, I hope the guy buys you a cup of coffee!
Key is one thing - lights on all day would really suck.
Nice job! There needs to be more people who think like you do.:beerbang:
I skimmed so I I don't know if someone said this .
Turn lites out and hide key so no one could find it. I'm sure there are a lot of crevisieson a bike like that.
leave a couple of notes saying to call , and that you have the key, word it so he doesn't get to far away from the bike.
Hide the notes so everyone can't see them, but he has to find atleast 1 of them. Chances of a thief randomly going thru a bike and equipment is slim , if he's a dick, legaly you never took the key off of the bike.
On the other hand , if he has to retrieve the key you might have a better chance of a reward.
