Well, motoGP is finally at a track where major off season testing did NOT take place, and it shows in the rookies performance. Just first session, but still telling...
Soup :: MotoGP: Stoner Fastest In First Practice At Portugal :: 04-11-2008
wow....the tech3 guys didn't have the best of days eh? toseland 6 seconds off the pace?
should be interesting to see how fast they can get their shit together
WSB is where the action's at.

not so sure i agree just yet with the rookie statement. not testing there played a factor for sure for set up but the field seems a little scattered right now. nakano and west near the top, pedrosa at the bottom, etc. i think we will really see some changes by FP3 if not FP2. this will show who can get their shit together and get set up under pressure though. of course closing a six second gap is a steep hill to climb. having stoner and rossi at the top already though, i guess we can see where this race is going. look at all the b-stones in front as well. they've never won in portugal!
in other news, timing available at MotoGP Timing & Scoring apparently they will have timing for all races and practices for the rest of the season. doesn't look to be streaming though.

hey paul, i'm sure your watching the timing through motogp.com
is rossi and edwards really in the 39's or does the indy timing site suck?

thanks for rubbing it in!
Looks like things are getting back on track for FP2 with the exception of Toseland.

good to see rossi doing well
FP1 = wet
FP2 = dry
Estroril = Not on World Superbike Schedule.

Man what is up with Stoner.
He's got some problems. Cant just be the Stones
as Rossi seems to be doing well with them.

In light of this past weekend's event, I reiterate:

I dont really see how you call this boring? I mean, at least the winner isnt leading by 10 seconds the entire race like last year, there was a nice pack up at the front. Some fun passes, Dani and Rossi with some fun passes and sticking with Lorenzo. It was fun to watch a satellite team battle for the podium. I wish they showed more of Stoner yesterday, he battled back nicely. I dont really understand what you guys are looking for? Yes, a lot more passing would be fun, and the old fashioned arm rubbing passes (Though Colin had a fun one yesterday). But compared to last year I think this racing is more exciting. Especially to see how the rookies will do and stuff.
I sort of watch WSBK. I dont get the interest cause I dont really root for or against any of the riders, so its tough to get really into it. But maybe motogp isnt AS exciting, but I cant see how you can call at least yesterdays race BORING.
I think the race would have been more exciting if they focused the camara on something other than the leaders.
It was also a bummer that Nicky crashed out. He didn't even go to the pits afterwards. Strange for Nicky.
Hopper had a good ride though, would like to see him turn it on this season.
