    Yamaha FZ1 Fork Alignment....

My brother in law has a 2001 FZ1 that he had a little mishap with, laid it down on the pavement at a low speed. The forks appear to be straight, but the steering is all misaligned; you have to have bars pointed to the left for the wheel to be pointed straight. Nothing appears to be bent (just from "eyeballing" it), so I'm thinking maybe something in one of the triples needs to be loosened and re-aligned? Is that even possible, or is something definitely bent?

    Yamaha FZ1 Fork Alignment....

yup... just do the same thing i did down at VIR... get the bike up on jackstands (can't really use a front stand for this)... loosten up the whole front end up, take it off, re-assemble it & see if it can square itself back up.

I think the FZ1 has a center stand so you can use that also and then weigh down the rear of the bike to get the front off the ground

    Yamaha FZ1 Fork Alignment....

Usually loosening a breaking free then tightening wheel first will due it.

Triple tree bearing nuts, and fork clamps, pull the fork tube down

When you shove the forks up it should slide directly into the upper.triple tree . If you have to put prerssure on it to line the 2nd tube then sompins bent

    good luck
