You should, torque is meaningless without RPM. When you describe torque with RPM, you are describing HP.
I can easily apply 210 ft-lbs of torque to a big bolt with a 1/2" drive breaker bar. My ZX9R only makes 70 ft-lbs of torque. Which do you think is faster, me (with 3 times the torque), or the bike?

Re: Newer yamaha R1 engine ???
Gotta say, the ZRX makes some awfully impressive power where you need it.... and the girl likes going on the back, plus it can drag knee just fine (just ask Steve Noguiera <- sp?)...

Don't bother. Pick up an R1200GS instead (or a KTM 950 Super Enduro if you're feeling daring). The R12 makes considerably more power but only weighs a little more, and you'll avoid the massive quality problems a lot of people have been having with the F8. Also, the R12 is in my experience a much better-riding bike.
Or wait and see if there's any truth to the rumored new offroad-oriented Triumph Tiger (possibly using the 675 engine).

Re: Newer yamaha R1 engine ???
I would like the R12, but also there is a lot of argument about the weight. After reading up on the two bikes and comparing for a while (i did this when the f800 first came out), there is still a good chuck of weight off the f800 compared to r12, once you start adding all the same options the r12 has is when the bike starts to be almost the same.
I want to be able to go off roading, yet have the capability for long traveling and a passenger. . . when i am ready, i will probably take a half year to decide, test riding will have to be performed.
i do drool of the k1300s, so we'll see . . i am slightly all over the place, i need multiples

Not really much room for a passenger on an F800GS. It's a pretty compact bike. Sounds like a KTM 950/990 Adventure may be the ideal bike for you. Nice used ones are available at surprisingly good prices (like $7500).

Hmm, Markvbt, that does sound tempting, i figure that i will have to test ride one to get the feel for what i need next.
My buell isn't ideal for a passenger, but what sport bike is lol
I went for a ride today, rode around around 50 miles, freakin addicting!
this wet weather makes me want to go off roading, makes a ktm 950 sounds great!
