    Re: The Yamaha TW200 - should I?

There is a small nail in the rear tire that seems to have punctured the tube. Is it difficult to break the bead on these tires?

    I have tire irons.

There is something to be said for the little bikes! When I ride the CRF230L I really enjoy how light it is and opening the throttle without getting in trouble! My wife has ridden it as well.

    Re: The Yamaha TW200 - should I?

The TW is pretty cool but overall enjoyment is dependent on rider height/weight IMHO. That's why I bought the WR250 when I was in the market a few years ago.......I love Yamy's overall dirty lineup though, better than big Red's (I'll probably catch hell for that, lol).

Tonight I patched the two holes made by the 1" nail, and the hole I created from pinching the tube the first time I put it back on the rim....

To break the bead I cut some 2x3" blocks to support the rim, then cut a 9" piece to use as a fulcrum and used the "2x3 under the tow hitch" method. It came right off. I thought about using dielectric grease on the rim (some do, to prevent corrosion) but forgot.

Would the average Yamaha dealer have a rear tube in stock?

Anyone using the heavy duty or extra-heavy duty tubes? I see they are available up to 4mm thick.

    Re: The Yamaha TW200 - should I?

I bet you could toss the TW200 forks/triples/swingarm into something a lot more road worthy and have one hell of a go anywhere bike.

did you find a HD tube for the rear? I looked but couldn't find one, plenty of front options though.

i'd give any dealer a 40% chance of having one, hah.

nice! mines about $20 more b/c i wanted theft.

check your oil filter properly for the 4 holes, i also just ordered a rear spoke kit as most of mine had rust and didn't feel like waiting if i broke any. I may just re-lace it this winter though. But i'm thinking of an atv tire chain and ice screws in the front and have some fun over the winter.

What kind of MPG are yall getting?

It says the tank is 7L (1.85 gal) and Reserve is 1.7L (0.45 Gal). Presumably that means you have about 1.4 gallons before hitting reserve? Looks like I will need an MSR bottle or two.

I get 65-80 mpg on the road, about 60-65 with doing some single track riding around franklin forest, but also driving down there and such. its pretty good. thats with a 55T rear sprocket (stock is 50)
