So Leah got a new dual sport and I got a new (new to me) adventure bike. We both wanted to ride them today so we had to do a big mix of stuff to keep us both happy mostly back counrty bumpy pavement with some dirt roads thrown in.
I would take off on the street and she would lose me in the dirt.
The vstrom is awesome, it handles the pavement well, pleanty of power and real comfortable to ride. ON the portions unpaved it handles bumps real well, you can barely feel them. The dirt roads are easy to manuver, except when the dirt and sand was wet and slippery then the bike sort of did its own thing getting all squirrely, but as long as I kept a fairly neutral steady throttle and kept my shoulder square to where i wanted to go it wasn't bad.
Knobbier tires would have helped but I bought this thing for the street. and do not intend on doing a ton of dirt with it.
Now it needs a bath
