I cant speak for 131 since I came into Cavendish from the west, but 140 is fine.
I might be down that way thursday or friday, weather depending.
i was thinkin the same thing![]()
Hello,
I live in the area and can tell you that route 131 from Ascutney to the junction of route 106 is fresh pavement, laid down last fall. Currently in very good condition. Very tight corner just before the 106 junction.
From 106 to 103 is in reasonable shape. Paved a a couple of years ago. There are a couple of tight corners on this stretch.
From 103 to 140 is in nice shape.
140- (this is my backyard) the first couple of miles in ok- a little rough, but will straighten out after that. Nice twisties going down into Wallingford and the junction of 7. From Wallingford going west the road is fine. Watch out for the right hander in Tinmouth by the school- it has been known to catch one or two folks off guard.
Not sure your destination after Poultney- But if you take route 30 south- it will lead you back to Brattleborro and I-91. I can highly recommend that ride.
You have chosen one of my favorite routes to ride, Enjoy and be safe

Awesome!!! I'm going to look at what you mentioned tonight on the map.. !!! I'm gunning for Friday
Ur welcome. If your feeling a little adventurous follow 30 till you hit 35 and take that to 121 to Rt5- then south to (*http://www.curtisbbqvt.com/) Curtis BBQ- at the 91 junction (exit 4). Great food.

Good to know.. thanks!!!
I was a little further north on Sat and there's a lot of new pavement going down right now on 107 between Bethel and Stockbridge and 73 between Rochester and Brandon. I'd ride back and forth on that stretch of 73 for days.
huh.. according to google maps.. aug 2012 images show the nice section of 125 to be in excellent condition.. the section that runs thru Ripton.. however at this time im sure its going to be all wet in the AM do to cold weather overnight and condensation.
its got a lot of tree cover and runs along the river..![]()
Ran 140 east today from the NY border.
It is in great shape some places and not so great in others.
Well worth the run though.
TIMMYDUCK
im leaning toward going tomorrow... so far its cloudy but 0% chance of rain.. it claims
DUDES..
what about 101A ? it looks to be in good shape as of 8/2013.. but are the corners long and not really tight ? i cant tell..
id like to get some lean angle
Here are a couple of the good corners on your route. One is a flat decreasing radius, should be able to drag the pegs on this one.
The other is a tight uphill/downhill 90°.
Enjoy!

Awesome
Pretty good ride.. if they pave 140 it will rock. I found the best section was where I was parked on 131
There was a Leo in that area of 131 though. In a truck.. bagged 2 cars during the time I was there
