4th Annual Back Roads for Backpacks Ride- Saturday, August 10th

Kickstands up from Burger King on rt.102 in Derry (i93 exit 4) @ 7:00am. Quick stop at i95 and rt.101 @ 7:45am (meeting Kenn's group) and off to Maine. We'll stop in Portland to fuel up and hopefully meet Kerry just after 8:30am.

I'll be at Motorcycle Night tonight for anyone that wants to drop off a donation for Kerry there. The kids, teachers and parents really appreciate what Ruth and Kerry do for them. Having their backpacks delivered by a group of riders is just the icing on the cake. The picture below from last year shows the riders were pretty happy to help out too.

C'mon NESR, let's show a small Elementary School in Maine that sport bike riders will step up to support a good cause.

Bump for a great cause. Wish I could join you again this year Kerry, but it will have to wait until next year. For those of you who haven't been, it's a great day that will make you feel great about yourself and you get to ride your bike while you're at it! Can't wait for next year's ride. I'll do my best to be there.

I'm still feeling great from seeing the looks on those kids, parents and teachers faces as we rode in to their school yard. It was very rewarding so a big thanks to Kerry :wub: and Ruth :wub: for yet another opportunity to be a part of making a difference in so many lives. Not to mention the planning that went into this event and for hosting the riders that attended.

Complimentary coffee and donuts during registration
Back road tour through Maine
Dropping off back packs full of school supplies at Hiram Elementary School
Meet and greet with many thankful youngsters and their parents including one lil' gentleman with LOUD pipes, one who had me sign his hat, one that totally ratted me out for stealing a few bites from Kerry's cookie and little Cody that handed me a thank you card.
Photo opportunities with some REALLY excited kids
Complimentary snacks and drinks
Another tour of different back roads winding through ponds and lakes back to Ruth's
Complimentary BBQ at the end of the ride with gifts for the riders

Thanks to Terry for joining me at Burger King, Eric and Kenn for tagging along at the Hampton Tolls and Cyrus00, Tim and Johnny X for meeting up at Ruth's. The only regret I have is that out of this NESR family of over 4000 members only 7 stepped up to help a fellow NESR member out. Please consider joining or donating next year as I know my fellow NESR members can be more generous than what we showed today.

What I overheard was, "a couple" but again, for a family this large that's rather disappointing.

Great ride. Perfect weather. It was very rewarding seeing the looks on those kid's faces, as well as their parents and teachers. Makes it all worth it. Thanks Kerry for organizing this.

Yeah I meant to post up. I got my thank you package on Thursday. Made it all the more worth it!
