You are right Rambunctous. They are very typical. Just of a bunch that says they ride. I thought I'd give it a try. I'll stop wasting my time, now to plan my ride. Thanks for the advice.

Wait, wait, wait... Y'all be cool. She has a vest... With patches. Don't say nuthin' won't be nuthin. As you were.
PS- new favorite thread.
Do you have any extra cats?
I'm strictly a solo on the road type, thanks. My point was that there are a lot of folks here who ride well ride long, but day trips at a brisk pace are more common here.
Long distance, multi week trips require time away from work, family and other obligations, not easy for most people to pull off, but not an indictment of their ability to "pull their weight" on a motorcycle.
Wow...what happened here? Bruce - I'm working on a Trip (PM sent) but it's not Alaska. (Besides, pretty sure I can't keep up with the rigors on that ride...Labrador/Newfoundland/Nova Scotia trip including 550 miles in the rain on mud and gravel not withstanding!)
Good luck Madeline. I'm sure you'll post up a report...
Ladies and Gentlemen, this will be the last you will hear from Missrider on this forum. I wish you all luck and enjoy riding our beautiful New England. To keep you all informed, I was selected as the winner of the competition. I have not received the money, but either way, I will be purchasing donuts for my students. This is the article to close off the loop on this forum.

Enjoy reading......
Taking your toys and going home already? Probably the quickest tapout I've seen on a motorcycle forum yet. Congrats!
Okay, so that makes two of us that have noticed... I was wondering the same thing for half of the first page.
I don't suppose reading calendars is part of your curriculum? Its always been an essential part of my trip planning.
*yawn*
Seriously! ... Unsubscribed ...
Typical blogger...
I think it's a shame if she truly leaves. I was actually very interested in following her trip through. It's when the self-righteous grandeur started that I started having my doubts as to whether or not I wanted to spend any more time following the adventure and the months leading up to it. NESR was originally all about any & all riders and/or riding styles. Our original mission was to show motorcyclists that we all had a certain perspective on what it is 'to ride'. None of us were necessarily 'right', and there really was no 'wrong way'...
And while we've strayed from that from time to time, I feel we always manage to right the ship and get back to basics. That is, we all ride. Some a lot, some on-track, some only dirt & off-road. Some ride year round while others only ride once a month for eight months. Some are ATGATT, some couldn't give a shit. Point is, and was that it's not HOW you ride, nor WHAT you ride. Simply, you ride. To put one's self above another strictly based on the type of motorcycle riding one does is nothing more than juvenile & narcassistic and'll most likely turn anyone off that's not in your particular clique...
I still wish her nothing but the best on her trip and I think it's great she won her little essay contest. And I do feel it a bit sad that this is what she's gonna base us all on. I'm not sure what someone can expect though when you start in like that with type of rhetoric. It's bound to leave a sour taste in people's mouths...
It's an awefully big pond out there...
I couldn't care less that she is gone, she is supposedly a teacher and can't compose a single coherent sentence.
I still think she's batshit crazy.
Remember the high school dance and getting rejected. Going back to your boys and they pat you on the back and say she was fat anyway. Mommy will make you a hot chocolate and tuck in your pillow now..........Bunch of sissies. Seriously, try growing up. hahhahahaha
I thought opposites were supposed to attract?
I think I've untangled the mystery of the date...
I suspect she originally planned this thread to be about her 2012 Trip to Panama and to encourage people to vote for her story. (Somewhat narcisistic, but not any different than asking for votes for your doggie picture or your cousins pottery entry...)
But, then she led off the thread with this...
...which, if tied with the title, "Adventures of a Woman Motorcyclist, Summer 2012" makes it look like this is when she's planning the trip.Quote:
I am planning a ride to Alaska from the Boston area and looking for people to ride with me. If not all the way, at least part of it.
I agree with Stonner. It's a pity she painted this whole community with such a broad brush and missed out on the fact that it's huge tent.
You'd think that someone here had suggested that all we were interested in was STUNTING!
I too chose to be offended by the implication that none of us were real riders. I've met Madeline and while I couldn't imagine actually riding with her, I know that there are folks here who share her 'style' and would enjoy riding 'her way'.
Oh well...ciao and bon voyage.
With the effort you put toward that diagnosis, She just wasted your time as well as I'm convinced she wastes her student's time daily.
somewhere out there, theres an entire school system who can't wait for her to ride off.
Missrider will not be missed. What a joke.
I'll assume she found the ADVrider forum by now. That would be more her style.
