As long as it isn't raining I'll probably be looking to get out for a short (thinking roughly 9am - 12pm) ride from Manchester area. Maybe 35-40 back road miles, stop for coffee somewhere, and then return. Cool temps and damp roads would probably keep the pace pretty casual. Just need to get out if possible as I'll be out of pocket for riding next weekend. Post up if you have interest. I'll keep an eye on things and if it is a go will update this thread by 8pm tonight.
Might be able to join, will now more by later tonight.

We got a little more wet than anticipated no doubt, but it was good to get out. The roads and scenery were cool so we will have to include that route in another Oct ride and then extend for a longer day. I'm in for something two weeks out from now.
Its beautiful out right now out! Still was a a good day, and i will go out with you guys riding again. Nice to meet you guys and thanks for the compliments on the bike. Nice route choice.

Thanks Not Sure... yes, that would be great to include those roads on a future ride. I think I may have split from you guys sooner than planned... wasn't about to second guess myself as we approached that intersection.
Trajiks... good to see you again and hear more about the 'spectator' you caught by surprise last weekend!
Roush... nice to meet you and that is a sweet Honda. Hope to see you again on other rides.
I was going to join you guys but decided to sleep in. Good thing because when I woke up and looked out it was raining. The back roads must have been wet with leaves all over the place?
Glad I got out yesterday so the weekend wasnt a wash.Glad to hear of no incidents and everyone still had a good time. Keep an eye out for a ride this coming weekend.
Cheers~
Yeah, I couldn't make it today. Been sick the past 4 days. If I'd gone out today, I'd surely have P-newmoanya tomorrow! Have to meet you next time roush.
I'm not sure if I would have gone even if I wasn't sick. Like Arcee said...wet leaves just didn't sound very enticing. I'll take the long shadows over wet leaves anyday.
Glad you guys got some riding in and made it home safely!![]()
SPEED SAFELY!
We missed you guys!
You're correct... wet conditions, especially late in the am.
I guess we're just trying to get in as many rides as possible before tucking them away for the winter.
Get well soon Draggin!

The Almanac is calling for a cold Winter, may be the perfect year for studding anything. I have some nice Metzelers I'd have no problem studding...Fuckin things suck!

I put a bunch of sheet metal screws in a set of old all season tires and threw them on a BMW. Wicked fun ice car for the lake. Totally worth the effort to do on a shifter cart!

My brother mentioned it to me a few years back. Now I'm really thinking about do it. I was thinking of using snowmobile studs with an inner tube, but do you think sheet metal screws on like some rain tire would work? Granted I can find screws short enough. They wouldn't get ripped out?
Sheet metal screws and tire slime were a good cheap/quick solution. The only problem is you can't really do insane drift angles with them, they rip right out if screwed in from the outside. Worked great for ice racing though.
Not sure on the snowmobile studs, never seen it done. A more durable, but time consuming thing I've seen done locally is nuts and bolts through the tire carcass itself.
If I did it again I'd start with dismounted tires and have the screw heads on the inside and use the tips for grip. That way you could still drift and not litter the ice.
