Day Ride Monday 12/29

Still on Vacation next week and Monday is calling for temps in the 50's! High @ 55! So I am going out for a few hours.

I am not out for a thrill ride, I'll be just out cruizing. There is to much sand and debree on the roads to ride to fast.

I am trying to think of some roads in my head rightnow that have long easy sweepers rather than tight stuff so it will be an enjoyable ride.

Seeing your in Townsend, I could meet you out that way and we could ride route 123!

How about meet around 10 at the Mobil which is right after the intersection of 13 and 119 heading east on 119.

Sounds like a plan. Mr. Mike's Mobil @ 10:00am. I rode up that way a little yestarday and there were areas of significant ice patches in shaded areas from the melt. So, you gotta be careful.

Wish I could come tomorrow but I really have to work tomorrow.

I headed up that direction today.

119 is in great shape up until the state park/forest in Athol or Ashby or whatever town it's in... (right before 31) There is a lot of water running across the road inside the forest... easy place for black ice to be found. Up till there it is pretty much 100% dry, clean, no salt, no sand, go as fast as you want.

31 is in great shape in MA, but it's completely covered in that thin white layer of salt in NH.

123 is totally covered in the thin white salt and has patches of sand in the road, and water running across the road.

It is also much colder up there. It was like 48 down here when I left, I went through the center of Mason at 3PM and it was only 35 degrees up in the hills.

Still I didn't actually see any ice, and didn't have any traction issues.

I polished my rear wheel yestarday and I still gotta put the thing back on the bike. Should have all done in time. If not I'll drive down to Mikes ta meet ya ad We can come back to finish up. I'm like 3 minutes away.

Put on 200 miles for the day! Unbelievable for this time in the year! The only part of me that got cold was my hands. I fixed that with my gauntlet gloves!
