Re: My first Kanc Ride (report) :)
When I was 16 I hitchiked up to the Kang and spent the summer at "the chutes". It is a giant slab of granite up at the end of the wilderness trail. 65 minutes from the Kang to be exact. I ate dinty moore and drank falstaff all summer. We would run out of supplies and hike down to the kang and hitch to lincoln and hit the IGA for more. There was nothing in town near Loon then but a general store and abandoned saw mills. A couple of years went by and I had my first Ducati. I would head up and sleep on the ground in the IGA lot and get up at the middle of the night and use the kang for a RR course. Never did I consider animals. I was lucky. Anyhow whoever invented waterslides went to the chutes first. It is a 3 mile hike up the wilderness trail then turn left and follow the river 1/4 mile. No camping at the chutes but nearby on tent platforms. Bring a bathing suit and a camera. This is ten times the swimming hole that you see right off the kang towards the Conway side.

and again - noone comes to say hi to me....
Re: My first Kanc Ride (report) :)
Nice, I actually made this ride on Thursday, I-91 in VT -> NH, 25A -> 118 -> the Kanc, up to Conway then through HMR. Then did the whole thing in reverse.
I have to agree the Kanc isn't as great as I've been led to believe, but it is fun. Unfortunately its a HUGE tourist trap up there, and I was leap frogging cars all day. Conway was even worse, I sat in 2 lines of traffic for 30 minutes apiece just to get through the damn town.
HMR though...whoa. That can get pretty scary pretty fast when both wheels leave the pavement. Thankfully there's almost no traffic on the road at all.
Re: My first Kanc Ride (report) :)
TJ (Origin) and I just got back from a day kanc trip yesterday and then decided to take a trip up mt. washington since i'd never been to the top
great times and we got some sweet pics...i'll have TJ share them later :)

:plusone: I've got a paired set of the Q2's. Nice little units & yeah, they go forever if you have it set to vox trigger.
The Q2 version even connects to the GPS on my phone for turn-by-turn! :beerbang:

Yup. The Q2 has a jack for an MP3 player & even has an FM receiver (not the best antenna though... weak reception)
http://www.cardowireless.com/Q2
You can find Q2 multi-sets (two pre-paired units) starting around $250 on ebay.

Re: My first Kanc Ride (report) :)
I rode the Kanc for the first time a few weeks ago...it was a beautiful ride, nut not quite what I was specting
Re: My first Kanc Ride (report) :)
The Kanc on 2 wheels is for early spring or fall/late fall. Unless you get lucky there are just too many cages wasting your time or trying to make you check out early. As for the ride to get to the Kanc. On the East side take rt.153 up and forget rt. 16. I respect mr. law but while in Wakefield look out for :spudnikcop: that I got a chance to :bitchslap: in court. Yeah, it still feels good to make a liar look like a douche.
Hey Nikon. I haven't seen you in Lincoln any time I've been through. Your probably checkin out the hairy chicks from Bethlehem hit'n the water park slide in their white gowns. I've heard. I gotta pic up a bag of pot at the 175 bridge and will give you call to swing by and say hello.

The 175 bridge is in Woodstock so do whatever you want there....
I'm actually out until beginning of Sept for surgery so I wont be around. I was talking about your bike to one of my co-workers the other day as I was checkin out a Scrambler (from VT) on top ofthe Kanc and he had a Thruxton seat and rear end - looked awesome. I love your bike.
If you're in my area of the lakes region hit me up - I'll be on the couch for a couple of weeks.
Re: My first Kanc Ride (report) :)
Absofukinlutely! I'll be in touch. Hope the heal up go's well! Damn! I didn't realize how much fun my overweight twin was until I hit my first track day. It's not how much power you have, but how well you ride with what you got. The track is :jaynnus:
